Wells Fargo holding insurance claim checks hostage
Our kitchen had to be demolished after a drain leak was found that caused toxic mold on September 13th. After we settled with our insurance company we were issued 2 checks, one for $47,000.00 and the other for $9000.00. We went to Wells Fargo to have the checks endorsed so we could begin the process of rebuilding our kitchen. Our local branch told us oh it's easy, we just need to send the check to Ohio and they will endorse them and we can begin to rebuild. Not so fast. Document after document is requested, another set of documents, phone calls go unreturned and you never speak to the same persons twice. It's a now 2 months later and nothing has happened. We are the caretakers of my 93 year old mother with Alzheimer's but she cannot live with us as we have no kitchen, no running water on the first floor where she lives so she is out of our home with other family members. When we told the claims person this all they could so was "oh" that's so sad. We need our money to buy kitchen cabinets and flooring which is the largest dollar item in our claim, but they will only release $5,000.00 at a time and what will that get us? The cabinet maker will or order our cabinets until we have paid in full but how can that happen when they dole out small increments at a time. And our insurance company gives us 180 days to complete the work and there is no way that is going to happen with Wells Fargo and their 3rd party claims processing company "Assurant Specialty Property" dragging their feet. We do not have $50,000.00 just lying around to make the repairs but guess what? Wells Fargo cane give you a loan on YOUR MONEY?? That is the most predatory things I've ever heard. The stress of living like this, afraid my mother will die before she returns home is just about to push us over the edge. We do not know where to turn but might have no choice but to walk away and just say take it. You're killing us slowly Wells Fargo. The sad part is that they do not care and are laughing all the way to the bank.
