Toronto Pathways is a stupid scam
I've get the same thing. After the first meeting (yes, I went to the first meeting) I was very skeptical about the company and the offers that they showed about other candidates that had get a job by them. So, I googled the company and figured it out that they were scammers. They offered me some sort of services fee of more than $5.500 for their services.
It's simple. They want to take advantage from newcomers and immigrants who couldn't get a good job yet. Doesn't make sense for me a company like this survive in this market. I still don't know how they make money. It's a shame, take advantage of some "desperate guys" who really need to provide the basics to their family.
I'm lucky, because I just have to take care about myself, so, I didn't have problem to refuse their offer. So, be aware: NEVER PAY TO GET A JOB. This is the first rule that I've ever learned here. For any other person who read this.
Good luck to you all.
Thanks

Employment scam - Toronto Pathways
I have a feeling that they may find our resumes through LinkedIn.
For those who do not know, LinkedIn is a website where you create a profile based on your resume. Your qualifications are clearly displayed for everyone to see, so anyone in your network can see where you've worked, how long you've worked, what your responsibilities have been, your skill set, where you went to school, your email address, and your age (based on birth date input). However, you can change the settings to display limited information for people who are not in your network for any of these criteria.
Job sites like Monster and Workopolis should be used for finding jobs, not uploading a resume and/or cover letter. I have not heard a lot of people uploading their resumes to any job searching website. For those who do, LinkedIn seems like the most popular choice. Otherwise, they upload directly to the company they want to work. For any website where they ask you to upload your resume, make sure it is secure (web address starts with "https" or any other secure protocol).

Toronto Pathways is a stupid scam
Hey guys,
Please check the link below about other people who went through the same experience. I personally complained to "Better Business Bureau" and "Competition Bureau", but so far no action, NOTHING and these crooks are scamming the most vulnerable job seekers who are to provide for their family:

To the admin / moderator for this page!
I posted my comment early hours this morning, but I do not see it here. Not really sure what happened, but I just hope it is not one of those that we keep encountering on a daily basis where somehow my comments are seen inappropriate.
I would very much appreciate if you can kindly let me know by any means convenient for you.
Thank you.

If you disagree sir/madam, why do you not enlighten us and let us know what it is. Secondly, from your perspective, is this company doing anything wrong?!
Thank you.

They offer a set of services for a fee. Their tactics are high-pressure and a little bit icky, but the services they offer are disclosed to you in writing and you are required to agree to them before they can collect their fee.
This is not fraud.

Employment scam - Toronto Pathways
In Canadian Law, there is such a thing as a verbal contract. This takes place between you and Toronto Pathways in the second two hour interview where you are promised immediate job interviews and assured that you are a perfect fit and the job is yours upon paying the fee. My husband was promised two interviews; he was shown two immediate engineering positions open on their computer. The verbal part of the contract is completely ignored after paying the fee. Fraud is trickery and deception. If this goes to a court of law which I'm sure it will, if there is any concern for justice at all then I believe that the judge will take the verbal part of the contract into consideration. If there are enough witnesses that will come forward with the same experience, this will add credibility and strength to this case.
Again, the written part of the contract may be honoured but the first part of the contract (Verbal/Oral) is not - which is the main selling feature of this service.
Definition of FRAUD from Merriam-Webster
a : deceit, trickery; specifically : intentional perversion of truth in order to induce another to part with something of value or to surrender a legal right

There are many cases in Ontario where the judge has upheld an oral contract to be valid where the testimony was convincing. There are enough witnesses to corroborate the verbal part of the agreement. I am confident that we will win.

Truth2Power,
All this has been explained to this person who used to have the different ID (The Fact Police). He is consistently defending this corrupt scam company. Please be rest assured that I will come to the court of law as a witness and a victim. I think at this point it is absolutely pointless to waste time with this person (Your Mom Knows Best and The Fact Police). The IDs themselves are indicative of a peculiar characteristic in his personality, he even insulted me calling me "ignoramus" !! . Please go and see the previous posts on page 1 and 2, you will see what he is really after!
I wrote to CBC today and I am determined to fight with this company and I will not rest before they face their fate in the court of law.
Thank you.
P.S. if you need to get hold of me, just send me a private message and I will certainly contact you to examine our options against this company. Thanks.
