false advertisement

Sadly, I am in the same boat as the rest. Publish America made me pay 199.00 to "resubmit" my manuscript because of some errors. So I did have to pay to publish even though they say you don't. After several emails regarding a few of their "packages" I still get little to no response. Now they are threatening to not respond to my emails anymore and are refusing to let me out of my contract even though I have four items of proof that they breached out contract. Now I am hearing that J.K. Rowling is suing them because they associated her with them. When is Publish America going to be stopped? So many author's have had problems but NO ONE wants to help. Can someone PLEASE step up to the legal plate and tell us what to do!

Breach of Contract/Fraud

I fell into PublishAmerica's foul trap in 2009. Since then I have regretted every day of it. I have done everything I can to work with them to make my book sell. They have done nothing but shun, mock and disrespect me. They send me options and then go back on it. Tell me I can get my book back by their opt -out program and then tell me no. They are deceitful, untrustworthy, and purely dishonest. All I want is to get my book back and hopefully salvage enough to use it again to attract a respectable agent. I am noticing that a lot of these complaints are years old and would like to know of current complaints, and if there is still an on-going lawsuit that needs extra help. I do not understand that with the amount of complaints, why is not the Attorney General and our government doing something about this fraudulent company. Harry Beal, Author of Insect World

Breach of Contract/Fraud

We're all on the same raft, Harry...lured onto PublishAmerica's luxury yacht, then taken out to sea and sent adrift. The lawyer we have been in contact with wants $1000 up front from at least 20 people, to get started. I, for one, don't have that. If we could get 100 people it would only cost us $200 each. The problem is getting people together to do this. I haven't contacted the Maryland State's Attorneys Office, which should have jurisdiction. Perhaps if 100 people would contact them and get a response, we can get this thing started. I live in Maryland. If we get shunned by the State, I can always try the media...they love dirt. This nonsense will continue as it has for years until we get off our duffs.

Publish America 'Something Appears to be Rotten in Maryland' en in Maryland

Where are the online government watch dogs, when it comes to false claims being continuously, sprouted by such apparently, pyramid schemers as Publish America and its many alias. It is sad to continue to read about how we as authors have been greatly defrauded by them, and that we must must get 30 or more names to one of Maryland's governmental offices for our claims (petition) to be recognized.

Isn't the evident right in front of them on line. They have only to read the complaints that we authors have made and are for very valid reasons, and they could also look at the Baltimore, Maryland BBB Business Reviews, about Publish America, AKA...America. Star Publishing, TextStream Publishing). Something is apparently 'Rotten in Denmark. Why has their thievery been ignored and is?
Who is being bought? What loop hole is there in the law that allows them to continuously and technically steal our intellectual property. What happen to ..."We the People hold these truths to be self evidence that all man are created equal..." Therefore should be treated equally under the law. So why is Publish America being aloud to stray far away from contractual agreement as it relate to payment and to change rules at their convenient, even when authors have paid them to return their publishing rights back to them. As authors continue to not receive financial benefits, all the while their telling authors they did not receive enough monies from sells to receive any royalties and yet they continue to sell their books for years. Question, why would any business continue to sell a merchandise that did not make a real profit for them? Something is very rotten in Denmark.....Maryland!!!
