Rewards scam!

As for the PALS program, have never gotten my free bag, ever, and the program was discontinued before I could get them to figure out where a bunch of my purchases went, that I know that I made to qualify for the free bag. Those "bunch of purchases" just disappeared, never registered on my slips. Have gotten email notices to print my "free" coupon on-line, with the replacement program, but every time I went into my account, my coupon has never been there to print. Another thing that I have been noticing, for months is that the register itemizes discounts and "cents off" and "free item" coupons, either, not at all or way off what the discount should be. Especially, on their "oops" discount items. Had to either return to the store to get the so-called half price that was printed on the orange "oops" label or when I began double checking at the cash register, the mgr had to be called, sometimes, more than once, to correct the sale amount. And, those "buy a homeless pet a dinner" treat bags that they sell at the register get rung up at such wierd increments on the sales slip that you can't decipher what is discounted or even IF you are getting discounted. (I stopped saying yes to those so-called donation items and just buy a couple of extra items to personally donate to homeless pets. I get more bang for the buck, that way, anyway, compared to the skimpy little trinkets & cans in those cellophane bags.l) I think those sales slips are designed that way to confuse the customer and they hope that no one will notice or come back to complain about the ambiguities. Well, for awhile, I WAS one of those customers that just let the cash register discount scams go. I let the matter go numerous times. Now, I question these ambiguities and coupons for "free" item promotions (that end up NOT being free, at all). Today, was the last straw when I almost got charged about $15 extra on items that had "oops" tags on them (for the second time). And, the manager who had to come back to the register, twice, during my one transaction, to correct discount errors, had the nerve to be snotty and tell me not to go on-line to complain about these errors, because the complaint emails just end up, back at their store, anyway, and to complain to them. I told her that the trouble, in the past, was that I had always trusted them to sell to me at the "enticement price" and would discover, after going home, that I got ripped off, over and over. I'm beginning to think this is by company design. Now, I know to scrutinize and question while I am at the register, and ask for the correct price and I get a snotty young "manager". I am tired of Petco. They have a great selection of holistic dog food which I prefer to feed my dogs, but many of their items can be purchased, much cheaper, elsewhere. I'm going to take a break from Petco. A long break.

Rewards scam!

I agree. I had an old card from Complete Petsmart that I tried to use shortly after the change over to PetCo. the Guy told me
that I should wait and use it when it would be more beneficial so I did. I bought a $60.00 bag of dog food yesterday and when I handed this same guy the Complete Petsmart card he says "Oh we don't honor these anymore" I was so mad. I explained to him that it was HIM who suggested I wait to use it. I will never go there again. If I can't find another Pet store selling the Natural Balance dog food I will just change the food my dog eats. Very dishonest business practices.

I am very disappointed and will not shop there again

YES, their customer service is LOUSY-RUDE!!!
they mistakenly sent me $30 worth of parakeet seed instead of parrot and won't send me a Return label to exchange it-they expect me to drive 200+miles in a blizzard each way to take it back to a store.
It was THEIR MISTAKE-all they have to do is send a fedex label and they will pick it up.

Awful company

This is a sad story but all to common for Petco. The care given in the store is usually exceptional because the store level associates still care about animals, the same can't be said for Petco's senior management, their concern is $ plain and simple. Petco's motto is ”animals always come first” which should say animals always come first unless it costs too much. This why the company chooses to use shitty animal vendors who keep and ship the animals is horrible conditions, usually resulting in sick animals. Most stores do their best to get those animals treated and back to good health before they find the animal a good home but often times the symptoms of certain illnesses don't present until it's too late. I know that this was posted some time ago but hopefully people still read it while searching the net.

Rip off

Most item like dog doors and pet gates that are also available home depot are going to be cheaper, petco has a outrages mark up on a bunch of its products. Some of the stuff we sell is marked like 80% or higher. To get an idea find a product in store and then look up that same product on our online store, the online price is almost always lower than the store price and is about what petco actually paid for the product.

Poor customer service

Most of the time when a product is ordered for a customer it falls on petcos distribution center as to wether or not it gets shipped. The stores have very little control over what happens after the order is placed, and the distribution center doesn't give a rats ass if it was meant for a customer. Sometimes when we order things it takes weeks to get it no matter how many times we place the order. Petco is like 2 different companies in 1, the store side and the corporate side, and unfortunately the corporate side does little to nothing to help the store side.

Worst Customer Service Ever

Petsmart gets the same shitty beds from china just like petco. The manager was probably rude because she was tired of having her head shoved up the senior managements asses or her knees were sore from other activities. There are 2 ways to get promoted to assistant manager or general manager at petco, neither of which are based on skill, hard work, or knowledge. Petsmart is the same only they pay their people more and their corporate dip shits aren't afraid to invest a little more money into each stores payroll so the stores can actually have staff on hand to help people. Petco chooses to remain jewish and not invest a dime into its stored.

Horrible grooming

Petco/petsmart groomers are just cashiers who have been given a set of clippers and a crash course in cutting hair, just like their dog trainers. The shit that the company teaches them is the same shit you can read in a grooming or dog training book and learn to do yourself. I know this because I'm a manager at petco. Best bet is to make sure that the groomer was trained outside of petco and has worked at an actual quality salon. It is possible that the groomer who did the groom was having a bad day and let it affect her work. We see it all the time, groomers are the most overly dramatic people I have dealt with.

Poor customer service

I would say poor customer service times a million! They have an employee at one of their Austin locations with a shaved head. You tell me what his hair style means when he told my 58 year old mother to get of his store in front of my 8 year old nephew because she wanted ot buy him a fish to add to his fish tank, but not another fish tank. Does it seem like it's just one employee? So far no one including store manager, district manager, and main head quarters has addressed the issue. How would you feel if it happened to you? This guy seemed to have a problem with old middle eastern women, but I guarantee you go into one of their other stores and they don't' like you for another reason you will never get an apology or respect! Oh and go buy a small bird from them, they grab it by it's tail feathers and throw it into a card board box. They don't care about people or animals just money!!!

Shelly Bookenberger - rude person, treats her employees with no respect

I worked for this company for years and I made a good business for this store because I tried to do my best and worked extra hours etc. I had very good reputation an this store. But our manager changed and new woman who came on managers position is really awful! She fired me and many other people with no reason, she cut salary for other people and threats people with no respect.
If you are looking for a job - stay away from this place!
New managers name is Shelly Bookenberger - beware of this woman!

Do notgo there! They charge extra!

Beware of this place called Petco! I took my dog there to have it groomed. The place charged $15 extra than any other place in our town, but I wanted the job to be done very good. When I came back they have charged me $30 extra, because like they said it took them longer to groom my dog. My dof is not that hairy and does not have problems with its fur. Instead of paying the usual $50, I paid $95. And the whole time I was gone was not even half an hour, and that’s not EXTRA TIME!

liars

This store is not reliable and these people are liars! hey offered 15 days refund policy but actually they never do refunds. I had a problem with the items I purchased it simply didn't fir so I send it back the next day but I never receieved my money back! Beware and don't trust them!
