Waterless tank
This is information for people thinking of tankless water heaters, You need to have a water softener or a very good house filter system, do do your homework, no matter who is the salesperson or Company.
On another note if you do not do your homework on a Companies past performance and service, it is called buyer beware or Educate yourself.

Misrepresentation
I had a similar experience. An OEG person showed up at my house and told me that he was doing an audit to ensure that Enbridge supply users had equipment that was up to present safety standards. After seeing my hot water tank that was 4 years old, told me that OEG would replace it. After he left, I contacted Direct Energy and was told that OEG had no affiliation with them. I then contacted OEG and cancelled the tank replacement. Ever since Enbridge got out of servicing users themselves, it's just opened the door for every scam artist and fly by night outfit.

Ontario Energy Group Air Scam
Air Conditioner Scam
On February 12, 2014, an "inspector" in a neon yellow jacket with ID from Ontario Energy Group showed up at my door and said he was there to inspect my heating and air conditioning for efficiency. He said my air conditioner was old and out-lawed by the Government. I told him it was completely refurbished last year and no longer contained freon. No matter. He said I probably qualified for a free air conditioner (!) and then went on to say that I would lose my 10% Clean Energy Benefit if I did not take OEG up on this offer. When I pressed him on exactly how much the monthly charge would be for the new air conditioner and for how long, it turned out the "free" air conditioner was actually a rental which I would be paying for forever but not to worry....the cost would be offset by the fact that I would no longer have to pay mid-peak and high peak rates. Toronto Hydro would now only charge me off-peak rates all day. As if! I told him I've had scam artists come to my door wanting to replace my hot water heater. He said "yeah, they make our job harder". Ha! Anyway, I said I was still suspicious and would check it out on-line after he left. Beware this company....don't believe a word they tell you.
