Cancelled my account
The owner and Inventor of this company is Dan Borislow and he lives in Palm Beach Florida. He also has a Facebook page. I think it is time to get the federal government involved with his fruad. There is an articular in the newspaper in Palm Beach paper. It seem he has other problems.
May be if enough people contact him he will return all the money he owes. He is a real scam artist.

Does not work with wireless on laptop!
i have read a lot of in-favors and not so in-favors. I have had 90% of my problems with magic jack is with the customer service. There are no real people to speak to; it takes way to long to try and get a problem diagnosed; the customer service people do not for the most part understand what you are trying to explain. I resent the fact that there is no human contact with this company. I have had magic jack for a long time, years, and there were a lot of disconnect problems when an upgrade popped up or something else of that nature on my computer, or the static was there many times. So i decided to get the Plus version. It was still cheaper than going back to a land line. As the ad said i connected it to my modem and went to check the phone number and it gave me a new number which i did not want. Upstairs to the computer, contacted them and it took them 2 hours to figure out that the new plus needs to be plugged into your computer before it works with just the modem. Would have been nice if the directions had told me that. My computer son and I reviewed the instructions on the package and there was no mention of this instruction to connect to computer first to register the product. After hours of frustration, the interruptions are gone, the phone line is in perfect use, and i do not have to have my computer on to use the phone. I am now a happy customer. I just hope i never have to contact their customer service again.

Stay away from this fraudulent company
THEY SAY YOU CAN USE THE + MODEL WITHOUT A COMPUTER. THAT MAY BE TRUE BUT YOU DO NEED TO BE CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET THROUGH A MODEM.

Scam Does NOT work
I would not recomend this to my worse enemy. I had to pay up front because of debit card. The syatem didn't work and now I am having a lot of problems getting my money back.

Ripped Off & Terrible Customer Service
I've been trying to get my number ported for two months from my carrier, who isn't on their list... 3 "chats" with people that are completely clueless. They keep telling me to contact my carrier. I keep telling them that the FCC describes the process clearly and that they have to initiate the port. They promise to follow up and do nothing. I'm am so sorry I paid them money. I could have just burned it for the same result. I don't know what to do or where to go. They simply don't care.

Porting Phone number
I couldn't get my magic jack to work so I canceled my account the day after I tried to set it up and asked them not to port my phone number from my phone current carrier because i'm going to stay with them. My account was canceled on the 16th and on the 20th of that same month they took my phone number. Now I can't get my phone number back from magic jack and they told me I never canceled. I asked them to please cancel it again and they told me all I had to do to cancel was to stop using it, I never used it, it was never in service. I don't even own a magic jack anymore. Do not use magic jack. You can't speak to anyone on the phone, you have to chat on the computer and they take forever to say anything and they don't actually answer your questions, they say the same thing over and over agin. It's like they don't even read what you type.

Porting Phone number
Magic jack ported out my phone number 4 days after I canceled my account and now my phone carrier wants 69.99 to get it back. When I called magic jack they told me my account was canceled on the 16th and I asked why then did they take my phone number on the 20th if my account was already canceled. They told me I had to chat with someone online. When I did the online chat, they told me my account was still active. I think they didn't want to agree they were wrong. So I asked them: how do I cancel my account again? they said all I have to do to cancel is to just stop using my magic jack, thats funny because I wasn't using magic jack. It was returned to the store on the 16th so How can I still have magic jack when I don't even own magic jack. If you need tech support, you have to chat online and they put you on hold for 20 minutes after each question. It has taken me 5 days and I still did not get any answers

Like the other complaint said; they charge to your card right away even though it is a 30-day trial and clearly said: "no charge to the card until after 30 days".

This is a very suspicious business organization.
Very poor customer services. The only way to get any is to go through a "SLOW" live chat. I was surprised that they don't offer live/over-the-phone service; given that they are offering telephone communications service. (-- Think about this for a minute! ---) This is a very suspicious business organization.

I won't post my experience because it's like so many posted on here. A class action lawsuit? That might be the best way to get these crooks out of the market.

I have the exact same experience. I've given up and threw the damned thing out - using =just my cell phone now. Even when it worked service was not good

I agree i payed online total of $90.00 and a month later no magic jack...no nothing!! Like not even a acknowledgment! This is Theft in my opinion and will see what can be done about it!

it sucks I'm thinking of throwing in my sink disposal. It works when it wants to and if you do get a call off you'll eventually get cut off but i guess you get what you pay for.

they are just thieves!
I've used their service for one year as I had a 1 year membership and now my magick jack is off for 2 weeks. I called them and they informed me that it's going to be renewed AUTOMATICALLY! I never signed for an auto renewal! And it's going to be renewed for 10 dollars more expensive than was advertised when I signed! It's a theft!

There customer service agents do nothing and knows nothing. I purchase the magic jack plus and they said 30 day but my credit card was charged immediately. What a waste! The device doesn't work and they have been telling me for almost a month that they will be resolving this matter. They keep telling me that they are working on resolving the issue. The device does not work and they will not replace it. Magic Jack is a joke.

The same problem happened when I ordered the miracle slippers. I also got bombarded with add on sales items, and I did order an extra pair of slipers for my daughter-however, when I got to the end the final receipt showed 3 pair of slippers in my daughter's size. It took a couple of phone calls, but I did get it straightened out after a couple of days and I had the slippers within a week. You do have to be careful, because they do add things onto your order without your approval and there is no way to remove them. You don't even know about the add ons until the final receipt comes up on your screen and then it's too late...
