Charged outrageous amount and not using hydro

I just exited a call with Hydro One's billing department. I've moved into this new residence in may of 2011... it is not a massive home and went to great expense replacing 90% of the lighting with LED low power replacements nearly $2, 800.00 worth the bulbs. We have one of the most energy efficient external heating appliance you can procure... yet despite my efforts to be a good green Canadian... We have been billed a total of $3, 800.00 since May 2011 for pure play electricity. What I mean by pure play is that we do not have electrical appliances that generate heat. We have a gas stove and oven, external wood furnace, we do not use a clothes dryer etc. We do not watch TV any more than an hour 5 days a week etc. One major challenge is that the smart meters can't be read... they upstream directly to their collection network. As such I had to install a current clamp device to gauge my usage at my expense... the long into short is... my $1, 400.00 fluke energy monitor reports less than 68% of the usage compared to my billing statement... So rather than rant I would like to gauge those on this boards interest, if an appetite exists, to begin a class action process as there is clearly something wrong with either their recording/billing back-end or their accounting rules are more scandalous than that of Olympus... please post back and let me know if there is interest and I will create an email address in that you can sign/join to begin the process.

Outrageous billing

Put me in the boat too! As a senior citizen living on a fixed government income I am finding it almost impossible to keep up with Hydro One's billing. A Smart Meter was installed in my home last December and until then my hydro bills were manageable. Not so now! In January I got a Bill for $177.56 (as opposed to my yearly average billing of $100.00 per month) and when I called Hydro and spoke with their representitive (an extremely snooty woman) I was told that because they hadn't deemed it necessary to actually read my meter since January 2011 until January 2012 - estimates were all they could manage to do. When I queried this I was told that I could have read the meter myself. Does that mean that I would be considered in the employ of Hydro One? If I am going to do their job for them would it not follow that I should be compensated for work undertaken on their behalf ... NO WAY! Sorry, I am digressing from my point. Okay, due to Hydro One's faulty estimates, I swallowed the $177.56 and thought that in future my bills would be more in line with previous years ... not so ... for the billing period January 5, 2012 until February 3, 2012 my most recent bill was for $228.42!!! Once again, I called Hydo One and got the same obnoxious female. When I asked if it was possible that my Smart Meter was not working properly I was told in no uncertain terms that it was "impossible" for that to happen and perhaps I had a "leaky" window in my home and I was asked if I would like to speak with someone in their conservation department. I declined this, figuring that after using hydro for 40+ I could conceivably be considered to be an expert on how to conserve energy. Each time I asked her another question the answer was still "perhaps you should speak to someone in conservation!" By this time I was ready to explode so I politely declined her suggestion yet again and old her that I was going hang-up and take my concerns elsewhere. Since then I have been monitoring my meter at the same time every day and logging the readings and they most assuredly will not be as high as last months. As an aside to the above I will mention that I don't even heat my one-storey home with hydro - I have an oil furnace! When I get my next bill, if Hydro's reading differs from mine I will be taking this matter to Uncle Dalton myself. Now I have a question for those of you here ... does anyone know if there is on-going class action suit against Hydro happening anywhere? If there is I will most definitely be adding my name to the list of complainants.

Outrageous billing

The easiest way to avoid a high hydro bill is to use less hydro.

Hydro one

Hydro bills are outrageous, When I call they tell me different figures from what the bill says They say there is no security deposit , then they say there is, all in the same phone call, When I ask a question they will not answer and tell me if I continue to ask they will hang up on me, The person demanded that I pay over 400. By. Charge card on the phone or they will disconnect even thought he paper work I have says 89. Owing, We are being mistreated , rudely spoken to and held hostage with threats of disconnection and ripped off by this corporation . my next. 2 steps go to ombudsman and then go to small claims court. This is a great injustice to many of us workers who pay taxes and then get ripped off , stolen from by Hydro One.

Hydro One/ Enbridge Gas Get The Meter Reading Starightened Out

I have been being billed for the meter in front of me on the same property owned by the same landlord for the last 7 months of living there. I have called in 2 investigations to attempt to have the correct meter read and billed for my usage to me. Monday morning June 9th, 2014 I called Hydro One with the same complaint about the meter on my bill not registered to my B-Hse/Shop/Garage that, I am renting and have been renting since October 31st, 2013.
Today Thursday June 12th, 2014 a woman from Hydro One comes out to investigate the same thing as she did before. Mind you this is the 3rd investigation and request from me to have them correct this problem. Which still was not corrected from the beginning.
I believe that, I am still being billed for the 2 apartments in front of me for their usage on their meter whom are renting inclusively.
I am not happy with the results and I thought that I just had an outstanding bill of $271.98 that was paid in full as of Monday June 9th, 2014 where I was also told by a Hydro One rep. that my account is at "0". Today Thursday June 12th, 2014 the woman tells me that, I now owe $208.00 as of June 10th!!! What the heck is going on here??? I am living on a monthly fixed income ODSP for life!!!
I am having the same problem with Enbridge Gas too. I had a bill of $488.00 dollars, $345 was paid on that bill which I should have had an outstanding of 134 owing, 2 weeks later I get a bill from Enbridge Gas stating I now I owe them $422.00.!!!

Need help and legal representation to help fix these problems with these companies who keep getting away with this crap. I can not afford to keep paying for the usage that is not mine. I feel that, I am being ripped off and forced to pay for other peoples usage to keep my power and gas going. This is so not fair!!! :9

What You Are Not Reading The Meters??

For got to mention was only informed today Thursday June 12th, 2014 that, they do not send meter readers out. I never applied for equal billing neither. It has been proven that the Niagara Region has the least unemployment rate, I say no wonder why? Create some jobs by sending out meter readers and correct the wrong meter/billing problems Hydro One & Enbridge Gas!!!
