Customer Service and Overall experience
you agreed to pay for classes B4 the financial aid paperwork was completed and approved?!! that wasn't very smart.
question: how accredtied is this University? by the time you pay off the $2700 + interest and fees you could have gone to a 'real' college.
did you research any of their 'successful graduates'? Don't just believe what someone telling you is true, especially since the recruiters are paid 'per sign-up'
how successful is their job placement? easiest thing in the world to research.
you will probably be paying somewheres close to $8, 000 for that $2, 700 program and it will still be worthless.

Financial Aid/Disbursement Problems
I am having the same issues with GCU. I have been attending since July 2010 and have never received a disbursement check without having to call every day. My GCU retention credit NEVER credits to my account without my having to call and now I am on the 2 payment period of my academic year as of December 12. Up until now my award letter (online, since they don;t actually send you one in the mail like any other college I have ever attended) has stated that my next disbursement date was December 12. Now, all of the sudden, it has changed to say December 26. I called my financial aid officer who told me that he does not know why it would have ever said December 12 because disbursement dates never happen on the first day of class. Then, proceeded to tell me that I needed to call the lender to find out why they had December 12 listed as the date and now changed it. I advised him that I spoke to the lender on December 12 and they said that the school determines the disbursement date. He continued to say "I don't know why they said that, they determine the disbursement date". I have never in my life been told that they lender determines the award letter information and the disbursement date. If that was the case why does the award letter not come from the lender? Why does it come from GCU and is only available online at GCU's student portal? The only answer I can ever get from them is it will be about 2 weeks or "I don't know". It is so frustrating! I am doing what I need to do and GCU needs to hold up their end of the deal. I have 4 kids and I use the stipends from my financial aid funds in order to supplement the income in my home so I can go to school. But, when you have not even somewhat of a specific time frame as to when you expect anything from the school it make it that much harder to do. I am very close to dropping out of GCU and going to another school because of these issues. It just really sucks because GCU is a good school besides the fact that they give students the run around when it comes to their financial aid. My brother-in-law and sister-in-law attend GCU right now too and they have many of the same issues. Maybe, GCU can get their act together eventually.

It is the student's responsibility to know the requirements. At university level you shouldn't need someone to hold your hand.

You are weary, stale, flat and unprofitable. You are grimy, squalid, nastyand profane. You are foul and disgusting. You're a fool, an ignoramus.Monkeys look down on you. Even sheep won't have sex with you. Your hand even refuses autoerotism. You are unreservedly pathetic, starved for attention, and lost in a land that reality forgot. You are a Windows user.

Fin Aid/Scholarship Scam
I am having the same problem with the $1000 scholarship. The untrained staff, unprofessional staff is giving contradicting answers as to why it was never applied. Also, they are unable to provide documentation to support their responses, it is like they are making stuff up just to get me to go away. Most of the people I deal with there are students who just want to get back to studying.
I also agree, the enrollment counselors are a pleasure to work with but the people who are dealing with the important issues, thousands and thousands of tuition and financial aid dollars, are untrained and don't want to be bothered even answering simple questions.

Financial Aid Fraud
GCU puts you into classes, and they are so nice when you first start, they call you to follow up in the first class or two, then all of sudden when problems develop, and they will, with financial aid first. The say your check is on the way, so you can order books for your classes and then suddenly there is a problem, and they blame a computer error, then it is an accounting error, but they can not reach anyone in the accounting office to speak to them to find out what to do to fix it. after a month or so of lying to you about where your money is they say the dept of education made a mistake. Three to four months later the money shows up, and all goes well for a week or so. Then you will get a bill, which nobody can explain to you, but they will blow your phone asking you to make payments until the money arrives to the school. when you get upset, the money is suddenly fixed and then things go smooth again until its time to get your next class started.. The class moderator, which is not even a teacher posts a syllabus, which is generic, and when you need help you get bounced around by tech support. The discussion questions often seem pointless, and being an online student is designed to work with people who have busy schedules and less time to devote to class. then if you have problems like several of my friends, and myself have had you get a grade that is not yours, you do the work, but suddenly the moderator says its late, or its not right and you get a failing grade. The same people who couldn't stop calling you for money to pay the bill, suddenly cant remember that you are a student who needs help. They notified me six or seven weeks into my class that i had failed the last class. of course there is a time limit on an appeal or anything else you can do to fix it, and they conveniently wait until that time has passed before notifying you. My instructor changed in the middle of the class without notification, we had a death in the family and it was the holidays, i emailed my instructor and asked for a weeks grace period to turn in the work, she gave it to me, and assured me that i was passing the class. seven weeks later i was notified by the academic advisor that i have balance owed and can not proceed without paying for the class! i refused to pay and got the emails as proof, they wanted to know what happened, i told them, and suddenly nobody will return my calls or emails, other than to ask for the money. do not go to this school, they scam you for money any way they can, and do not care about their students at all!

Regarding to my account having a balance
I am making a complaint is because my mother in law passed away October 24,th 20013 unexpectedly and I had told my teacher that she had passed away and that I would do my discussion forums but I was going to have a hard time concentrating on any of the major assighnments. The teacher had me passing all the way up and till the very end and gave me and 0 F like I did not complete any of the work that was supposed to be turned in. I still would be in college if they would of gave me a temporary leave of absence like I had asked for.. I also am disabled and they were aware of me being disabled, they suspended me from college for the next two years and they want me to pay for a class that I still did not take yet and I had three classes to come up with my grade point address and they withdrew me before I could even finish my 3rd class due to a death in the family and I notified the school several times.
I also am on Social Security cause I am disabled and I was threatened with using plagerism on one of the papers I had to write for a class before that one in which I was able not to finish because of the death that had happened in the family. I would like to let people know what is happening to people that are disabled and being taking advantage of from these colleges then the college makes believe that they do not know. I would like to get back into this college without any money being owed or any other hassels cause this college Grand Canyon University is suppose to be a private Christian college and how they treat there students they sure do not act very Christian like. I would also like to receive my mentors in which I was suppose to receive from the first day of college.

Pell money
So from day 1 of my first course I have heard 4 different excuses as to where my Pell grant money is. I am using the GI bill and of course can use the money for school stuff computer so on. Well here I am in week 1 of my 3rd class to find out after asking many times where the money was that the Pell money had not yet been applied for some reason. Now this was for the 2015-2016 year. So that ended on June 30th. I have gotten so many different answers on the phone or by email that I have lost track. Then when I say either send the money or this will be the last class, I get a bunch of attitude now this is also from the military adviser. I gave the school the benefit of the doubt after reading some things like this from 2011, because the military recruiter from GCU was decent and very helpful once I was done dealing with her that help ended. Now I am sure there will be an post on here about contact us ASAP. Well better yet you contact me.
Thanks
Brian Riley
