rebate referals 50/50 visa cards

We got screwed too!! We were swayed to change from Dish Network to Direct TV. Part of the promises included getting a $100 in visa reward cards to offset the equipment charges that we would have in switching. I was told by a Direct TV representative to go on line download the form and fill it out. After downloading the form I saw that it was a referral program. I called Direct TV back and said, "I'm not referring anyone"? how can this work for me. They assured me this was the form and to put my name and address on both sides of the form and I would get two $50 Visa cards sent to me. After 8 months I decided to call to check on the status. Now for some reason I was directed to Direct StarTV. They said my request was denied because it was fraudulent having signed both sided and wasn't referring anyone! Well No SH#T!!! I questioned that in the beginning! After an hour complaining on the phone I got nowhere with Dirett StarTV or with Direct TV. Lied to AGAIN! Nobody will help me at all! Live and learn! Please contact me if a Class Lawsuit is made against these liars! I want on the band wagon!!!

este comentaria es en spanish porque tambien a nosotro nos transan los de directv. no he tenido mas que problemas con ellos su servicio es muy pobre y ni en su officina tienen mi informacion corecta despues de 3 meses tienen mi direccion incorecta no llega el reenbolso de costco a pero eso si para cobrar son buenos nunca firmare otro comtrato con ellos y no pierdo tiempo en hablar mal de ellos con gente que conosco en my company los consen bien

"I was forced to move out of my home due to my drop in income and my account went into collections with Direct TV. One day after Christmas direct tv charged my debit card and wiped my account clean. My account had $377 in it. I called to get some understanding on why they felt that it was ok to debit from my account without my authorization and I was told that the bill states that they have the right. I asked for a copy of my bill and the supervisor became very nasty with me. All the customer service reps (except on in billing) were not professional but the supervisor was the worst of them all. I asked for a copy of the bill because they blocked me from viewing my bills online. The supervisor basically dismissed me and told me to send the billing office a hand written letter which will take days to resolve and now I don't have any money. I don't know if this is legal for them to do this to people. I've read some recent reviews about peoples accounts being wiped out the day before Christmas. Is there anything I can do? Can I file a suit or something? I feel like I can't get through to anybody and they are totally nasty and won't give you any information about the corporate office. If only the customer service reps can understand that sometimes people are going through financial issues and just need a friendly voice. To wipe some one's account out around the holidays or any time for that matter is just unacceptable."

Terrible experience

I have been through 3 technicians and 22 customer service people and have been on the phone for 4 hours today just to get our direct t.v. at our new address. for what we have been through i believe that our direct should be free. they have also made unauthorized withdraws from our accounts. i am frustrated i want to talk to someone not an idiot that transfers me evey 5 minutes

Lawsuit against them

They LIED to me that if I paid my bill via online bill pay it was the SAME as paying on their site - but it isn't. I paid my bill on the day it was due, from my online bill pay, but they cut my service anyway, so I had to pay AGAIN to get service restored WITH THE EXPRESS PROMISE THEY WOULD REFUND THE $$ W/IN 10 DAYS.

Well, you can guess -no refund. Instead, they CREDITED my directtv account! when I called they had the BALLS to tell me they would cut a check and it would be to me ... within 10 days.

I've lost 20 days of interest on $200 because DIRECTTV LIES about how they receive and post payments then DRAG their arses getting my money back. I've been a customer since 1999 and they are starting to SUCK

I live in a newer area. They are finally bringing Comcast to my area. I cannot wait! Direct TV has been a nightmare. My service continually goes down and when I've called for help, I reached "Mitch, " ID#LV5741, who said he was the top person and who would not allow me to speak with his manager. Direct TV goes down so frequently because they put too many DVR lines on a single line and have to send a tech out to fix it. This keeps happening and I go without the service I am paying for for a period of time. Today, I finally asked to have my bill credited and Mitch refused to credit my account for all of the disruptions. I will be checking into what federal and state agencies oversee Direct TV and file a complaint. I should also mention that I called the corporate office phone number for Direct TV and waited on hold for more than 1/2 hour and then hung up because no one ever answered the phone.

Billing dispute!

Today DirecTv stole 475 dollars from my moms account. They took everything that she had in there. We haven't even used it for two whole months because it stopped working. We called them to cancel and they told us that we had a two year contract that was never mentioned when we signed up. Now we can't even finish paying for the rent. DirecTv is the DEVIL. Now she is trying to get her money back because she did not authorize them to take her money. They don't care about any of their customers.

I am astonished at the fact that this company can just take money out of someone's account without authorization. I do not care that they have it in the contract... IT IS NOT LEGAL to be able to permanently openly force this authorization upon customers and I am wondering how the FTC has not stepped in and put a halt to this???? I was told I had 3 free months of premium channels, saw they billed me in error for it, emailed immediately and got a response they were taking care of it, and then they took it out of my account anyway last night. Enough money that it matters to me - because it is the first of the month and rent was due out of this paycheck and that amount with tax could have put gas in my car til next payday! They will only give me a credit towards future bills. I think if they can erroneously take the money they should be able to reverse the transaction and give a REFUND as quick! To no avail did anyone tell me a refund was possible only a bill credit. Now I am freaked out what is to come after reading all of this! There should be a class action suit because they amount of money they take from people without authorization even if you are not on autopay any longer and the interest that is owed to people waiting for refunds and the interest lost to those people from their own banks!!! It is CRIMINAL! Tried to email the CEO from the top originating post and it bounced back so they must have gotten way too many emails and shut it down! Anyone got alternative emails or avenues I would love to have them sent to me - we cannot let companies nickel and dime us in an economy like this - they are STEALING! [email protected]

I have been with this company for 7 years. We had our bill paid up to date. We were not under contract. We were told our bill was going to be over $400. When I asked them why they said that we had to pay for the promotional services we had received. I told them we were offered these services for free for being a long time customer. It fell on deaf ears and the refused to take off the charges.

UNAUTHORIZED CHARGES FROM DIRECTV -- AGAIN !!! Got DTV in Sept, October bill included a new charge of $5.99/mth for a maintenance plan. I called (and after the usual 30-60 minute hold and discussion time), they agreed to cancel the charges for the service that I NEVER REQUESTED. The $5.99 fee appeared on two subsequent billings and so I finally called again. During another 30-60 minute phone call, the operator finally confirmed that their records showed I made the first call in October and the charges were supposed to be dropped. Now waiting to see if they finally stop billing me and get the credit issued. A similar UNAUTHORIZED CHARGE appeared when I had DTV at a previous residence. I started receiving a magazine in the mail, "compliments" of DTV. When I finally took a look at the bill (I usually autopay - my bad), I noticed that they were billing me for the darn magazine that I never ordered. Similarly to the experience of others, they advised that they could only credit the last month back because if I truly had not wanted the magazine, I would have called when it first appeared on my bill. If they aren't, their billing tactics SHOULD BE illegal.

If the bill was legit, then you apparently have not paid it in awhile and they were justified in taking the money. If the bill is not legit, report it to the police, bbb, etc...

If you do have service with them and you are having these problems paying your necessary bills, then yes, you need to set better priorities.

Most states tghat I know of can't cut off essential utilities especially in the winter and if you have kids and a disability. Talk to the head office at the utility company about it.

I had mine installed about this time last year and have a year to go before my contract expires. They offered me a super deal with auto bill pay at $24.95 a month for 250 channels and was to increase by $15 after a year. I was fine with that except after two months the bills started to go up with no explanation. I was never late and after many calls of getting the run around I want out too and will call the local media, as they have a complaint department that exposes them for what they are. If that fails I will talk to my attorney.

I was with Dish Network and wished I never left! No complaints with them whatsoever and I could expect my bill to the penny every month!

the TV bill was paid in full and disconnected back in November per my request. We are now only have essential like electric and water bills and of course rent. I always pay my bills sometimes even early.A customer service person said last week that the money should have never been taken out and was a mistake but when I called to ask why I haven't received my money back I was then told that unless we reconnected to their crappy service we would not get our money back. I am being black mailed and the only people who r really hurting r my children. This money has been missing for over 1 and a half weeks and I would have had money to pay my bills and for food if they had not stolen the money.

This is very frustrating and discouraging to know not one single person from Direct TV's "Customer Care" department has responded to the incorrect billing issues we have asked for their help on. We have stated my wife just lost her job after over 20 years with her company and I have been unemployed for over 3 years now. This is not your problem and we realize it is ours. What we can do is share our story with the media http://www.troubleshooter.com/ and how big companies continue to capitalize off every day citizens and discontinue our services with Direct TV. Month after month my phone service and internet service is affected from the outrageous billing of over $100.00 for TV service. I have stated that our family cannot afford TV services nor do we value TV over our basic needs. We signed up for Direct TV specifically for the NFL Season pass and the lower more manageable rate of $40 month. Our services have been interrupted by your 3rd party collections company Century Link every month because you over billed us. This is out of control and we are thankful football season is over. We would appreciate a "Customer Care" representative or manager in the "Customer Care" department from Direct TV give us an answer that it is either our loss for picking Direct TV as our service provider or you will "Honor" your advertising that prompted us to go with Direct TV over Comcast and Dish and credit us the difference. Loretta, the same thing just happened to me. Last week i checked my bank account and Direct Tv charged my Visa debit 1096.25. I cancelled my service back in Nov. they did not tell me that they were going to charge me a 380.00 cancellation fee. They charged me 400.00 for receivers that they said they never got. Once I called them they miraculously found them. They said it would take up to 10 business days for me to get refunded the 400. They also charged me 300 for my unpaid balance which i am ok paying that, since it was owed to them. They give me the runaround every time i call them. I will never do business with them again. BEWARE OF DIRECT TV. THEY WILL ROB YOU!

when you change your service you can be put into another contract term. That includes downgrading from 3 to 4 receivers, because you changed your original service.

Same goes with wireless phone companies.

Directtv is running a complete scam business. They claim they are cheaper then the competitors but in reality it's further from the truth. In my case, it pertains to over billing. My plan with the equipment runs approx. $98.00., each month they say there is a past due amount and that it needs to be cleared up. I've had this RIP OFF FULL OF S*** service for almost 18 months, I've paid approx. $560.00 in over charged billing. When I contact this pathetic DirectTv workers they are completely clueless and refuse to get me to a supervisor. I believe they are schooled in the art of STUPIDITY! and play dumb. Months back their crappy box broke and they sent a new one out. They customer rip off service guru NEVER MENTIONED THAT MY CONTRACT WOULD BE EXTENDED, WHAT A BUNCH OF S*** ! Their box breaks down and they charge me for it with a longer contract? Who knows, perhaps they can manipulate the boxes to break done just so that they can extort money out of our pockets. I BELIEVE ITS TIME FOR THE FTC TO INVESTIGATE DIRECT TV AND BRING THEM UP ON CHARGES IN FEDERAL COURT. I say its time to protest in the hundreds in front of their main business office in El Segundo Cal., plaster negative comments all over the web until they change, SIGNED PISSED OFF SOON TO BE EX-DIRECT TV CONSUMER.
