Incorrect Diagnosis

I have had several pets and have never had their teeth cleaned by the vet, and they all did just fine, and lived long, healthy lives.

Incorrect Diagnosis

Banfield is terrible. Did you end up paying in the end? they are trying to make us pay for a whole year of our wellness plan even though we cancelled it. I'm working on my letter of dispute right now and I'm going to send it in to as many Banfield offices as I can to be sure it gets somewhere. Did they send collections to you? I'm worried about that because my credit is perfect.

These people are CROOKS!

Incorrect Diagnosis

We apologize if you are unhappy with your Wellness Plan; to clarify our Wellness Plans are preventive services packaged together at a discounted price with the convenience of a 12-month financing option. When a client wants to cancel their plan throughout the year of the package we simply ask they either pay for the services already used at full retail cost or the remaining payments, whichever is less. In other words, customers who do cancel are not asked to pay for services that they haven't already used. We would like to help resolve your issue but we are unable to identify your account and have someone reach out to you. We ask that you contact our Wellness Plan Team so we can gather more information on your specific situation. Please call them at 866-649-2716 or email at [email protected], thank you.

Misdiagnosis/obvious malpractice

I brought my 3 years and 9 months old Yorkie to Banfield Hospital in Alexandria, Va last April 13, 2014 when he developed sudden onset of severe pain-yelped so loudly and for few minutes-right after ingesting his freeze dried treat. His demeanor changed from being energetic to whimpering, weak and listless, refused to drink or eat. Brought him to Banfield right after the incident as they have emergency care and I bring both my yorkies there for their vaccinations and wellness exams. I was initially refused but after insisting that he ingested a treat and maybe choking, the receptionist took him back. After 5 minutes, a vet took him out and said his lungs and heart were normal. without asking any history or triaging. Had this vet asked me questions that triggered his condition and did an x-ray, she would have found out that the treat got partially dislodged on my yorkies esophagus. My dog would only eat small amount of liquid food and would drink but vomited undigested food few seconds after ingesting for few times and without gastric juice present which indicated that food didn't get inside his stomach. Brought my dog back to Banfield, and again no vet triaged but a vet tech did it and indicated that my dog was having diarrhea although I told him he was not having diarrhea. The intake notes (I obtained the medical record after the untimely death of my dog) were so incomplete and nothing about my observations of my dog. I am an urgent care nurse for 30 years and I gave as much detail as possible as I know history is 99% of the diagnosis. another vet saw my dog, prescribed strong anti-nausea/vomiting medicine and pain medicine and GI restore diet. The lab results were not significant but since my dog was a yorkie, it got profiled as "possible having pancreatitis" a common problem of small dogs. No x-ray was done despite my assertion that my dog was having pain when I tucked his chest area and he would lie on his side so stretched out most of the time. Two days after my dog, vomited blood and went almost into shock. found another animal hospital and soon after the vet triaged him, an x-ray of his esophagus was done. A small object was found to partially obstruct the upper part of his esophagus. My dog had a transfusion and an endoscopy. unfortunately, the treat got calcified/mineralized and could no longer be moved by endoscope and he arrested in the OR. the vet who did the surgery said that had I brought the dog right after the incident, the obstruction could have been removed as it was not large. I called the Banfield Wellness a day after my dog's death to cancel their well Plan as I no longer trust their company. i was informed that both will be cancelled and that half of my the April payment of my dead dog would be refunded. However, I noted that Banfield continued to charged my credit card. I think Banfield as a company should take responsibility of their actions. Our pets are our family members and vets should abide by the same hippocratic oath that other medical doctors follow-DO NO HARM.

Bad Veterinarian services

I took my new 8week old puppy to banfield to have her checked out for any problems and for vaccinations. We were put in a room to wait for the Veterinarian and when she came in she was very rude asking if I was going to have my puppy spayed I told her not at this time and she lost her mind telling me that there were a lot of these kind of dog in the pound, that it could be a difficult pregnancy, and that it would be my responsibility to feed the puppies if my dog did not produce and feed her pups. This kind of pet care service is totally intrusive and unwarranted therefore I want banfeild to know that they just lot another paying customer because of a dirty, prejudice, nasty want to be veterinarian by the name of Loretta Lewis. She seems to think that just because I'm black and have a Pit-bull I'm some kind of monster or dog fighter. My advice to banfeild is to hirer better Veterinarians.

Bad Services

Yesterday 11/17/19 I had the worst experience anyone could have had at Banfield. I arrived 20 minutes before the 4:00p appt. After the previous customer checked out at the clinic( Banfield) I was asked my name and my pet's name. I gave the information to Jessica at the front desk. After she looked the appt time she said .. oh you have 20 minute to wait, I asked why since no one was in the lobby and I've driven 14 miles to get there since I didn't want to be late. Oh we have two customers a head of you Jessica said. I looked around and no one was in the lobby or in the 3 exam rooms. My dog and me were the only ones in the lobby. Jessica sat at the desk on the computer until I asked what time was it and she said 3:48p , but she explained that she was waiting for another appt scheduled for 3:45p is the reason she couldn't check my dog in.. I looked at my watch and it was past that time. She got up from the computer in the lobby and left to go to the back and returned at 4:10. She then said to me I can check Snoopy in now, that's after waiting in a lobby for more than 35 minutes with no one there but me and my pet. Once in the exam room we waited again for another 18 minutes. It was so long in the exam room a tech came in the room to ask if I had another place I needed to go? Yes I have a couple other stops to make before I go home, but it doesn't look like I'll make it. If I didn't need to have my dog's vaccination done I would have left and never to return again. I purchased the wellness plan back in 2012 and have the monthly payment debited from my checking account on time. That's why I'm upset and need this customer service reviewed to offer excellent services to the next person. No one should have received this kind of service. I also voiced my complaint to the veterinarian on duty about my wait time and lack of excellent customer service.
The BAD experience I've received from that location on FM 1960 and I-45 will allow me to redraw from Benfield and seek a licensed veterinarian for my dog's wellness program.

Rabies vaccination given to dying 14 yr old cat

Took my cat, Molly to the only vet I could find open on a Sunday, Banfield's. My cat couldn't keep her balance and had trouble walking. After running tests I was informed that her red cell count was only 30 percent of where it should be. She had fleas but was told fleas would not cause this. Five hours later and after many tests were ran she was released. She was given a pill that killed fleas immediately and given a rabies vaccination. They gave my dying cat, Molly a rabies vaccination! She passed an hour and a half after getting her home. The label on the vaccine states only to be administered to healthy pets. Oh yeah almost forgot, my bill, was close to $700.00.
