Think twice about signing up with Xoom Energy!!
Better think twice about signing up with this company! I signed up under promotion with ACN. I didn't realize this was an internet company. I set up monthly automatic payments. In May, they changed their payment website so my automatic payments were not honored. Couple of months later I received a $750 bill. My contract had also came for renewal. I missed their email but they didn't try to send mail or call me. I told them that I can't pay the whole $750 at once but willing to pay my monthly bill with extra payment and I'd like to lower the variable rate which was twice the normal rates. They said it was going to take two monthly cycle before it would take effect and mean while I couldn't switch to other companies until I paid my bills. I ended up calling other companies and switched regardless and still stuck paying these exorbitance payments. They also kept sending me pink disconnect notice threatening to turn off my electricity even after making arrangements to make payments. They could have tried to contact me and let me know about my new contract and their payment system and work with me to turn things around. By the way, you can't even see your bill online...how's that for an internet company. I'm still having to finish paying $1,213.44 for 3 months which is over $400 per month...very ridiculous! I'll take responsibility that I should have been more vigilant and on top of my emails but still they could have been more proactive in contacting me in other ways and work with me instead of threatening with disconnection notice and making me stay paying these ridiculous rates until they would switch me to fixed rate. There are a lot of other companies around. I would stay away from this one!
