No network and no way out

When I got my phone with Wind, i told the dealer where I am moving to, They said there will be coverage , no problem. It has been over a year, I have no service in my home/around my area, I have to drive for 20 mins south of Bovaird and Mississauga road until Derry before I can have some network. Even then, there is no guarantee and I can get dropped calls. When I called into Wind customer service, they simply said there is no service there in the area, and I am free to cancel by paying the windtab which is 450 $ after 2 years of painful Wind service. I still have to keep the phone for over 13 months before the tab can be used. I am now paying 40 $ a month; cannot switch to another provider as I need my number and dont have 450 $ to pay to Wind.

I had another phone as well, which broke down 4 months before the windtab was to be completed - I didnt want to go back to wind due to lack of coverage, now they charged me 220 $ when I ported out ( it should have been 100 $ based on 25 $ a month) .

The Tabs on cell phones are a scam and worse than the contracts that they used to impose.

I have complained numerous times to Wind and have informed them of lack of service, but they keep arguing that there is usage on the phone. ( Well, I do use my phone on my way back from home where there is coverage ). They do not understand that in case of emergency the phone will simply not work due to no bars. I have tried to reason out that windtab is not fair atleast for clients with no coverage, but there is no reasonable resolution from their part.

Anyways, I am very frustrated. Can anyone suggest how to escalate this issue or get out of this mess without having to pay the ridiculous windtab. If you calculate the amount paid for the monthly plan in the last two years ( 960$ atleast) for barely any usage, I feel I have already paid the company enough for the phone that they claim as windtab.
