What Ever Happened to Classic TV?
Although I am only 43, when I first started watching TV Land years ago I recall watching real classic television programs like The Patty Duke Show, Father Knows Best, Car 54, Where Are You, and The Mary Tyler Moore Show. Now, the station is flooded with terrible programming. The "new classics"? You consider The Exes and Hot in Cleveland new classics? I love Betty White but why not celebrate her career by showing reruns of the MTM show? These new flash-in-the-pan shows won't be remembered past next week and meanwhile there is a bevy of amazing television programs sitting in the vault collecting dust.
Though a more modern show, Everybody Loves Raymond has truly won a place in America's hearts much like Roseanne did before you took it off the air. Shows like Younger, which have NOTHING to do with classic TV then or any time in the future, are just a good example of a horrible programming choice. And Impastor? What a terrible way to insult an enormous piece of your audience by mocking religion I am no religious fanatic but I respect what is important to the vast majority of viewers. It's really such a disgrace.
I hope that TV Land will recognize that there is great value in older programming and that it's those choices that warm the hearts of your audience. From I Love Lucy to Three's Company and the later, great John Ritter there are so many great choices available. We really hope you don't desert them and that you find your way out of the muck and mire of cheap thrill programming.
