incompetence

Did you give them a courtesy call before your missed payment was due and tell them you couldn't make it and ask them if they'd work with you?

I find something a little off with this complaint, sorry. For one, what do you mean "behind one payment"? Are your payments on pre-authorized withdrawals? If so, how many bounced? Frankly, it is absolutely not in their interest to repossess your vehicle, so there must be something more to this story - or at the very least it was entirely human error on their part, which you need to get to the bottom of. As for the "idiot representative" comment, that's just not called for ... maybe your attitude was equally "idiotic" and hence the "error"... Legally though, you owed them money, so they do have the right to repossess the asset at their discretion, on the other hand, bounced payment happen even to the best of us, so I feel your pain.

Most vehicles are repossessed after being at least 2 payments behind. When customers don't keep track of their payment due dates, they often argue that they were only one payment behind at the time of the repo. Often times, they don't realize that a previous payment bounced or that they skipped out on a payment last December and never caught that payment up. So when the vehicle is repossessed in June after they skipped yet another payment, it takes a customer by surprise. It's important that the finance company has all of your updated contact information. Don't ignore the collection calls or the past due notices that come in the mail. You may be eligible for an extension. Make firm arrangements with the collectors and don't break your promise to pay. If the company refuses to change your due date, then work around it. If your payments are due on the 1st of each month and you don't get paid until the 15th, then pay two weeks early as opposed to two weeks late. The lender is willing to work with you but only to a certain extent. You have to meet somewhere in the middle. There has to be a suitable agreement in place to avoid the repossession.

POOR POOR POOR

please do yourself a huge favor and do not finance your vehicle with this company. i had to do a simple transfer of title due to moving to another state. This is not something that can be done on their website, so you must call to speak to a rep. i think TDAF USA does not employ any because wait times- before actually talking to a human- could be 1/2 hour or longer- if ever. Who has that kind of time on their hands? I certainly do not. And we are paying THEM, when in reality they should be paying us to wait. I have a life, schedules to keep and a job. This problem has been going on for as long as my car has been financed, which is well over 6 months. The automated message while you are on "ignore" keeps saying over and over and over.... and I quote : "Were sorry. You have reached us during a VERY busy time" .... bla bla bla.... each and every time i call, no matter 8AM or 8PM, same message- same hold time. VERY VERY frustrating; my blood pressure goes up just thinking about it.... and in addition, several times- after waiting what seemed a lifetime- someone with a foreign accent finally picked up, only to hang up on me. Imagine waiting upwards of an hour to get thru to someone only to get hung up on !!! This happened several times. TDAF USA you are the worst company on the planet. I wish i had never ever heard your name. i would happily pay off my loan and transfer to another company if only i could.

hOLDING MY REFUND

Had TD auto Finance, I traded in the car for a new one near the time the payment was due so I made another payment so as not to affect my credit.
I made the payment on Nov 11th online. It cleared my bank on the 13th. TD received the payoff on the 25th. On December 3rd, I received a letter from TD stating that they had released the lien and sent the title to the payer.
I called to ask when my refund would be sent out. I was told it would 21 to 30 days. I explained that I made payments electronically & it had already cleared my bank. She said she didn’t care; we have a process, 21 to 30 days. They want your payments on time but will sit on your money as long as possible.

TD Auto Finance will not answer their phones

I am trying to get a hold of ANYONE working at this joke of a business, but they do not answer their phones. When I contact them over their secure message system on their website (which is the only option, as the main number 1-800-556-8172 only has an automated voice service with no possibility to be connected to a representative) they always send an automatic reply asking me to call 1-866-730-437. When I call that number, I always get a recorded message saying all representatives are currently busy, leave your name and number and you will be called back. Except, they never return the calls. I have tried all hours of the day, for a month, I have send numerous e-mails, sent letters, faxed letters, left voice mails etc. and I still haven't been able to get ahold of anyone.
I have now given up and today I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau of South Carolina. I advice anyone to stay away from this horrible business TD AUTO FINANCE as its customer service is non-existent.

Horrible company

Our truck got flooded by Harvey last August 2017. My insurance Amica paid them right away, and TD Auto Finance admitted during the phone call that they probably received the check but they got so overwhelmed it’s probably “sitting somewhere.” Amica stopped the first check and issued another one. I thought the nightmare with TD Auto Finance was over, but I just got a letter today telling me I owe them something again! I called, and after being on hold for almost 30 mins I was told that I owe them $100 plus for Christmas nterest on the late payment ( Amica has to re-issue a check remember...) so now TD Auto finance’s ineptness is being blamed on me, and I have to pay a “delay” in payment which is not my fault.
They keep on harassing and bullying me rhat they’re going to report me to credit bureau. I can pay that $100 something but I don’t feel like I have to, I was never late on any payment. It was TD Auto Finance ‘s fault!

DON'T USE TD AUTO FINANCE

I have a car loan with TD Auto Finance and make my payment each month electronically. In 2015 I called to make sure that the little extra money I was sending was going directly to principal. I was told that it wasn't so I asked that they correct it. Now I find that it wasn't done and when I insisted that they correct it they told me they could only go back 6 mos. I was also told that if I wanted the extra applied to principal that I had to call in each month. I was never told any of this in my conversation with them in 2015. I was told that yes it was being applied to principal and reducing my payment each month which is not what I wanted. I have worked in cash for over 30 yrs and have faced all kinds of issues. This is a simple one to correct but takes a little time. I will never finance thru them again. I warn any of you who are thinking of financing with them, DON'T. They don't really care what you want as a customer. I will end up paying more than I should if it would have been handled correctly the way I wanted it. I don't know what their cash system is like but there should be a way to flag the account to tell them how to apply the cash. It if doesn't, they are certainly not up to date with cash practices.

Has anybody reported them to BBB?

waiting on the line 38+ minutes with the insurance/total loss people within this company. Car payment is due today they never sent the paper the insurance company has been requesting to pay the car off. They expect me to pay the car when it has been declared a total loss and is going to be paid off by the insurance. They claimed they never got a settlement breakdown (that was faxed) .. nobody mentioned this to me when i called 5 days ago. This is ridiculous. Will report to BBB?

Don’t ever use them!

Approved for the loan in April 2019. Every online payment we have made has been held for three days and then rejected (bad check?). The money was already transferred to them/out of our account. It took them 8-10 days to return the payment before we could try and pay the bill again. On the third attempt it went through - AFTER they applied a late fee. This has been every payment we have made and they have only accepted TWO of the payments! I keep getting told that the problem is we’re using a checking account and not a debit card. What?? After they told us this, we made sure to run it as debit, yet the same rejection happens!
The minute we are paid, we stop what we’re doing and make sure our bills are all in the queue to get paid so that they are never late. If you look at our credit reports, there haven’t been any late payments until TD Auto Finance came about.
They are now threatening to repossess the vehicle after rejecting every payment we’ve sent from our accounts (two different banks). We keep getting told that our bank is pulling the money back, but our bank is saying that TD Auto is rejecting it. How am I suppose to pay my bill on time??
We’ll be refinancing this week. I just hope they accept the bank’s payment to them...
