Late Payment
I totally agree about Target National Bank - I switched to paperless statements in June 2011, while traveling I charged $60.00 on my RedCard in early July and did not think any more about it until I went to a Target store in November and tried to use my card - it was declined - I talked via telephone from the customer service desk and was told I owed 198.00 - and was late on making a payment - I paid immediately over the phone the full amount and it wasn't until I got home that I went online and discovered that it all stemmed back to that $60.00 charge - the rest were late fees and interest and the account had been closed. I immediately sent a letter explaining the oversight and the fact that I had not received any emails, postal mail or telephone calls and requesting that the late fees should be waived and my account be reopened to the CEO of Target and it was referred to Target National Bank and I was told that because the account was so overdue it would be unfair to all the other RedCard customers to make an exception. However they did credit my CLOSED acct for $35.00. I had discovered that the email address and telephone numbers were wrong (not my fault).
I felt that they had an obligation to try to contact me so I could correct the oversight...they apparently do not feel the same way and a response to a second letter that I sent (with a copy this time to the CEO of Target) requesting someone with authority to make some decisions based on the facts and just how was I to use this credit they gave me on a now closed account was met with another letter from the same person saying the same thing...I haven't checked my credit score yet but I'm sure it will be effected and my husband and I have great credit and it seems obvious that the $60.00 was just an oversight not an intentional non-payment. I do not have a habit of randomly checking my email sites of places I do not consistently charge at - I will from now on. Anyone have any idea how I can get to the right people to look at this situation and work with me to correct it to everyone's satisfaction.
