Short Term Disability Benefits

I don't need to type my story, because, a bit of my story is in every story here. I hate them, I've gotten sicker since I started this claim and it's ruining my families spirits as well. I can't tell you how many times I looked at my medication bottles and thinking how many pills would it take to make me never wake up.

Short Term Disability Benefits

Sun Life kept me waiting with hoops and loops to send more and more documents but never from my Family Doctor. I sent my specialists all at my expense for over 3 months, when I absolutely broke down...it was close to Xmas and Hydro cut off my Hydro...yet my 'sunlife' manager kept me on this string. I did nothing but cry and get more ill. My physicians (specialists MD's and therapists) said I could NOT work. I am totally disabled, 58 years old and I just felt criminal. I am so embarrassed. I would NOT give up my 50K a year job which i loved...to stay home...and am now living on 426 a MONTH. Apparently they hope I will just die or go away ...but I can't. I am on WELFARE? I've been told this is how it is...wait a YEAR or TWO...i don't know what to say. I don't eat properly I go to physio when I can afford it and had attempted suicide 3 times. My life went 360 from happy and healthy, to, useless. I had no idea what to do now. I think I'll die like this...and I don't know why. I've worked all my life, raised children while working kept up my skills and degrees...and now feel like a pure loser who takes pills, sleeps a lot and feels like Sun Life just laughs at me. Sad. If I do get better I will have to repay Ontario works...and move on...I can't beleive i got this ill, only 9 years before I could retired. I'm depressed and alone and only hope NObody goes throught this...Degrading.

Short Term Disability Benefits

Had the same problems with Sunlife for LTD. Had general health problems stress, severe anxiety, a hearing disorder that gave me frequent dizziness and fluctuating hearing with balance problems. They kept on sending me for evaluation, every time i did i would get stress and my symtoms would get worst. For long term disability, the cause was you had to be totally disable, since i was able to do some things but not for a long duration i was deemed not totally disabled. But of course, how can one work with frequent headaches and dizzi spell specially when one get tire easily and how can one recover if they keep on sending you to be stressed out.. Doctors are also a problem when you have a rare misunderstood condition. They also send you to their own psychologist and you get this rediculus reports about possible faking of conditions...can you imagine. All this will get a person so stress out and would not recover. I gave up my LTD claim in 2007 hoping to recover from my problems. I also loss my position as a design engineer. But before i cannot walk the length of wallmart before having to sit down on a chair. Yes i gave up my claim, Yes i loss my prestigious job as a design engineer of gas turbine engines for Rolls Royce. But im alive. These people know when you are at your weakest you cannot defend yourself and if you do not have help sometimes its better to stay alive. I give it to god the justice they deserve.

Short Term Disability Benefits

I fully agree with the comments. Every month they cut of my benefits and I must jump through hoops to satisfy them. This month I'm told that I must return to work regardless of my broken right foot, 3 herniated disks in my back, a partially torn tendon in my shoulder, arthritis in my hands and feet, and Fibromyalgia. I have a cast on my right foot and I'm not sure how I'm supposed to drive my car to work let alone walk the distance into the building. In the US there is a law firm handling these complaints. Anyone in Canada?
