Possible Freelance Writing Scam
Ha...I know this is riddled with spelling and gramatical errors...ha...I just wrote it real fast and didn't proofread it, but you get the idea of what I'm saying. Trust me, when I submit writing work for my actual writing jobs I proofread everything, I just don't do it on comments like these but I"m def gonna start because now I'm just making myself look stupid, but seriously, don't trust these scumbags...maybe...But thier most likely scumbags...

Possible Freelance Writing Scam
No problem. At my3cents we are trained not to nitpick ones grammar, unless it interferes with what the word/sentence/phrase intended. Thank you for this insightful review.

Possible Freelance Writing Scam
I also got a next-day response. Definitely looked like an automatic-response email with my name plugged in. Wanted me to write an article about pursuing an online PhD in psychology. Puh-lease! I am not going to spend the time researching that for free! If my writing samples weren't enough for you (I submitted a paper that got me into all the grad schools for which I applied.) then I'm not wasting my time. It really does seem like a scam. They say 800 people will take the test for this freelance position and only 50 will get the post. Sounds like 800 free articles for Stripes39!

Possible Freelance Writing Scam
Hi DavidBeefArms: I hire for Stripes39 and I can assure you the jobs are real and we treat our freelance writing partners with integrity. It is a partnership which has proven mutually beneficial. So in short, your supposition is entirely incorrect. On light background: we have a very specific need for talented writers. Our success with finding what we want stems from our experience which has affirmed our convictions that we must set a high bar for writers and we must continually look for them anywhere they live. The test specifically measures if the bar is met. We realize this is not for everyone and not everyone chooses to take our test. But we are for real and we treat our freelance partners with integrity. If you want to take this one offline and have a further dialog about your specific situation please feel free to ask for Matt @ [email protected] and I'll send you my stripes39 email and phone number, through which we can talk further. Otherwise, I would really appreciate it if you could remove your post like you said you would if you validated, "this isn't fake". Thanks and have a great day! -Matt

Possible Freelance Writing Scam
This place is a scam! I have proof that they do indeed use your samples for their business. Don't bother!

Possible Freelance Writing Scam
I don't think Matt has offered any evidence.
The application test feels like a scam, particularly when writing samples are already available and the work is contract.
If one were obligating company resources to support an employe for a specific period of time, I could understand a thorough evaluation period; but that is not the case.
If the company is honest it should either accept previously published writing samples or pay the potential employee for the application work done.
It is as simple as that.

BE CAREFUL
I had a chance to work with them for a few weeks before I had to quit because I could not take their dishonesty. Certain things that struck me -
1. They are DISHONEST - hired me to be a scientist, even gave me the title. But when I spent all I had to move to seattle to join them, they told me I was "just" a programmer and the title was a "fancy" way of getting me to join them!
2. By the way, they do not pay your relocation completely. So, be careful.
3. SHADY - Once I was talking to a linguist there and they told me she was not a reliable source because they "got her OFF THE STREETS"! So unless you are "on the streets", do not join them.
4. A quick look at their WEBSITE will tell you how SECRETIVE they are. If they were founded in 2005 and do not have a website with any information on who they are and what they do, there has to be something they are hiding and could probably be doing some illegal stuff. I would "KEEP AWAY".
