Very Unprofessional Seattle Central College Security Officer Interview

Just wanted to make you all aware of how unprofessional Seattle Central College conducts their interviews-- in my case for a campus security officer. My basis for comparison was Edmonds Community college. Unlike Edmonds Community College, who had the professionalism to notify me by email of my job interview with a request to call them to set up a time, Seattle Central just called me at night out of the blue and had me come in the next week in the middle of the day. (Edmonds scheduled theirs first thing in the morning). For those of us who are already employed, this is very inconvenient as I had to ensure that I could get the time off from my job to attend the interview in Seattle. I arranged to call the Security Officer Sergeant back the next day at a specific time to confirm the date and time of the interview. So I call this clown from the airport as I am leaving on a family vacation, and he had taken the day off ! I left a message to call me back, and he calls me late the next night when I'm on vacation at Disneyland. This idiot had already given my requested time to someone else! Against my better judgement, I took whatever was left, the last slot of the day at 12:45. Seattle Central did not even have the professionalism to email me any directions, where to park, where the interview was being held, etc. Again, comparing them to Edmonds and other campuses, the standard protocol is to email us this information. But not Seattle Central! So I get there and have to figure out where to park, and being Seattle, I had to feed a meter, which didn't want to accept my credit card! After wasting several minutes dealing with the meter, I had to figure out where the security office was so I asked a student. I finally get to the security office only to find out that the interview is in another location that they never bothered to inform me of! Maybe they were testing my flexibility?!

Anyway, despite getting there a couple minutes late because of all of the above, the interview went well, and I nailed virtually every question. Unfortunately, they only had the room for 15 minutes before it was needed for something else, so I only had less than 15 minutes to answer 12 questions! They skipped over some of the more redundant questions in order to save time. I always ask "How soon will you be notifying us of your decision?" Their answer was "within a week". But to add insult to injury in this unprofessional farce of a hiring process, they did not even give me the courtesty to notify me one way or the other whether I had got the job or not! I have never had any other organization at least not even bother to notify me by email whether I got the position. They are truly in a class by themselves as far as unprofessionalism. In retrospect, it was a blessing, and I am glad I ended up at a much classier and professional campus. Morale of the story: Don't even waste your time with Seattle Central !!!
