Misleading and Fraudulent
I am thoroughly disgusted at the process with which I booked my room for a recent stay in PA.
1.) Misleading website - I thought I was booking my room on the actual Hotel website (Fairfield Inn, Kennett Square, PA), instead I was routed to reservations.com
2.) Mislead on the room rates. My actual bill had a total for the three-night stay. In actuality, I was charged a different rate for each night, $109 for the first night, $139 for the second and $159 for the third.
In my thirty years of traveling for work, I have never ran into this scenario - NEVER.
I thought that I would have had to revise my stay, the meetings went a little shorter than planned. Anticipating this I asked front desk clerk about revising my stay for the two nights only - he said I would have to contact Expedia - So I didn't bother with this as I could see the handwriting on the wall. So when leaving this morning, (day 3) I didn't see a receipt on the floor like you normally see, I gave it no thought as now lately I get them emailed to me. When I got home today, I contact Expedia to get a receipt - they had no knowledge of my reservation with this hotel, it was done through one of their "partners" - Reservations.com. They forwarded me to these people and I asked for a receipt - When I got this receipt I was flabbergasted seeing how the room was billed - as above three different rates for three different nights - the customer service rep @ reservations.com indicated it was what the hotel allowed them to charge.
I can't quiet get my hands around this shell game - but it appears that these two or three entities are in cahoots together - this is scam - I would stay as far away from reservations.com as possible and deal directly with the hotel at the local number.
