Beware of Reservations.com!

Canadians beware!! Thought I was phoning the hotel’s toll-free # but it was a central reservation centre. They quoted me a non-refundable price to be charged to my credit card immediately. When I refused that option, they quoted me a much higher refundable option. I was even less impressed and said no thanks. I wanted something with a cancellation policy. So the person found me a refundable option at a nearby hotel at an affordable price. After reconfirming some details and the “ refundable” option, I decided to book. I was only ever informed that my credit card would be charged right away, but not that it was going to be in USD! Nor was I told that there was a non-refundable $15USD fee for booking. So I ended up paying for a hotel reservation in Canada in US dollars!! When I checked my credit card statement on line the next day and saw the charges, I immediately cancelled my reservation. I emailed the contact info on my reservation but got no response. There was no phone # on the reservation either - which by the way, I had to phone twice to get. The only phone # was the one on my credit card statement associated with the hotel charge reservations.com - Orlando.

This is a total shady and fraudulent business, and hope others will stick with more reputable sites and confirm who they are speaking with over the phone before booking or check the portal site. I also advised the hotels I was looking into about this in the hopes they don’t use this company service to attract business.

Not 50% Money Back on a $700 CAD weekend following cancellation policy

CANCELLATION POLICY:
Refundable up to 7/27/2018 The USD $ 14.99 fee from Reservations.com included in the total is non-refundable. The room rates listed are for double occupancy per room unless otherwise stated and exclude tax recovery charges and service fees. Any partial hotel stays is subject to be charged for the full reservations amount."

I booked a hotel in Cheyenne, Wyoming with what I thought was the hotel over the phone. The woman on the phone proceeded to explain how I had up to 2:00pm on the 27th of July to cancel. I cancelled my hotel at 11:30 am of that day due to safety matter and poor hotel condition. The hotel I ended up having to stay at also booked through Reservations.com, making it apparent I did not stay at the original hotel (I did not know of how horrendous my experience would be in trying to receive any money back or I would have never used this hotel). Reservations.com proceeded to charge me for the full amount at hotel #1 at $700 CAD and $700 CAD at hotel #2. After almost two months, extremely rude and poor customer support and even though I followed the cancellation policy I have received a partial refund of $300 CAD for not even staying in this hotel.

Please learn from my mistake.

scam

I made the mistake of booking with Reservation.com thinking I was dealing directly with the hotel in Ontario where I wanted to stay. The amounts listed beside the rooms did NOT say anything about the price being in US funds. I did not know until I received the confirming email and then tried to cancel it. TOO LATE! They will do nothing to help you! Once they have your money you have no other options. These people should be taken off the internet. They are scammers!!!!!

FRAUD!

Thought we were booking through the hotel but to find out we booked through them. First they charged us an extra $14.99 for booking fees. Then we had to cancel and tried to get a refund and have been working on this for over a month. They needed a note from the hospital/dr because we were unable to do a procedure that day and needed to cancel. We were able to obtain the letter and emailed it to them within 3 days. 2 weeks later they are telling me they have never received it. I have talked to a reservation specialist 4 times today alone and they even hung up on me. I have asked to talk to a supervisor every time and they tell me they are busy and they will call back within 24-48 hours. They have told me that 4 times. NO ONE has ever contacted me a month later.
DO NOT USE THEM!!!!!!! WARNING!!!!!!!

Extenuating circumstances

I recently booked a hotel (non-refundable) then was unable to travel because I was unable to go due to the age of my puppy (9 Weeks). I am an inexperienced dog owner so did not realise that a kennel will not take a puppy of that age.

I believe that these are extenuating circumstances that I could not have foreseen I am therefore requesting a full refund.

Thanks for your consideration, Wayne

A photo of the puppy can be provided upon request.

Fraudulent company

This is obviously a dishonestly run site. They don't let you know that when you confirm a reservation on their site, you are actually making a nonrefundable purchase which includes unreasonable fees and other charges.
For a room at Holiday Inn in Chicago, they charged me $119 PLUS over $44 in "government mandated" taxes and fees PLUS $19.95 in more fees. The exact same room at Tripadvisor is $119 plus $19.95 in total taxes and fees.
I leave it to you to figure out who is telling the truth.
Be sure and check them out with the BBB. You will read this:
BBB files indicate that this business has a pattern of complaints; consumers are reporting they are not made aware of certain fees the company charges in order to make a reservation through the site. Additionally, consumers have reported lack of transparency when it comes to going on what appears to be an actual hotel site...

Ripp off

DO NOT BOOK with them they ripp off the consumer. Book a 2 night stay in Branson MO at days inn. They told me i was getting the best rate at 201.00 for 2 nights. When I checked in I ask for rate at front desk they told me $149.00 for 2 nights. Lesson learned call hotel before booking. I did call there customer service for a paritial refund, they told me nothing they can do. This is consumer fraud.

Reservations.com is a SCAM!!

So, not only did they charge me a $20 "service fee" but the rude customer service lady hung up on me when I told her that I wasn't aware of this charge! The total amount of the hotel doesn't show on your screen until after you've hit submit. And guess what? There's another $20 fee for cancellation. And even more fees bc she said will accrue just for calling!! Absolutely DO NOT use this service! I didn't even know I was using it, as it appeared to be the hotel website and not reservations.com. WOW is all I can say.......

Reservations.com Stole $800 from Me

Reservations.com stole $800 from me. I reserved a prepaid and non-refundable reservation with Super 8 in NY. Due to COVID, the wedding I was attending was postponed, and I needed to cancel or move the reservation out by a year. They said they would cancel and request a refund. They never canceled in a timely fashion, and the refund took 2 months for them to request. By then, the hotel (unaware that I had cancelled or wanted a change in date) did not agree to the refund the reservations. Reservations.com said I had no recourse. If I had booked with the hotel directly, I could have easily changed the reservation or cancelled and refunded.

RIp Off

I made reservations for two nights in LAS Vegas and two nights in Reno. I received confirmation on the LAS Vegas stay but received no confirmation on the Reno booking. I sent an email requesting a confirmation on the Reno stay. I got it. It did a second booking at LAS Vegas. When I contacted them to see if they could change it to what it should have been I received a no. They could not change the booking and I would be charged. Bottom line is I will be paying for two nights in Vegas when what I tried to do was get two nights in Vegas and two nights in Reno. I can not change my travel plans so have no reservation in RENO but must pay for the two nights that were booked in error (by their agent) in Vegas. Costly lesson. I would not recommend this sight to my worst enemy. I will make sure no one that I know uses them.
