misrepresent a hotel

Googled Candlewood Suites and made reservation by phone thinking that was Candlewood phone number. Person said they were saving us 28 percent. We checked hotel direct & could have gotten rooms cheaper. Then it was impossible to reach Reservation Counter by phone, their automated telephone messages are very long & confusing. You hold forever and never get to talk to a real person. They gave us a confirmation number which cannot be accessed on their website, saying the number is incorrect. Sent them an email questioning why my number doesn't work, their email response just sent me the same number. To my surprise, the cost was charged to my credit card 30 days prior to our hotel check in date. Hotel tells me I have to cancel through Reservation Counter, that we cannot cancel through them. Reservation Counter does not provide cancellation policy through their company, but tell you to contact hotel????? I plan to cancel some kind of way by contacting hotel 2 days to say I will not be checking in, even if I have to contact my credit card company about this deceptive company. Most companies do not like an inquiry about their practices from a credit card company. It appears Reservation Counter has my money until I check into the hotel.

Reservation Counter

I just booked a hotel room in Bellingham. When I got to the hotel room, the receptionist told me that I was charged for two rooms that were booked under my name. I immediately protested and stated that I had only booked for one reservation, but that the website was clunky and had seemed to be "stuck". I have since spent more than an hour after a long tiresome day to sort this out. Of course, when reservation counter people are not reachable, and you have to endure listening to a long winded (VERY LONG) voice message, only to find out you might be cut off in the end before you get to speak to a human voice. This is a fraud company. Please do NOT use this company when booking your hotel anywhere. You will be taken advantage off.

misrepresentation

This company misrepresents itself as the only resevation line for individual hotels. They gave us the wrong information about where the hotel we were booking was located, making it impossible for us to make it to the hotel. We called for a reservation during a state of emergency and it was late. The reservation line would only refund one of the rooms we booked, even though they provided us with fraudulent and totally wrong information. DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE!!!!

Reservation Counter

I called to make reservations at the Embassy Suites and somehow connected to "Reservation Counter". The person I spoke to informed me that he would be able to give us reservations to the "Courtyard by Marriott" for the same price that I paid for the Embassy Suites which is a total of $240.00 per night (taxes & service fees incl.) for a suite which had a Queen size bed & sofa bed, and include a "buffet breakfast" as we already have at the Embassy Suites for July 29th-30th. He was being very pushy by telling me that this was the last room he had available and that I should take it because once I’d hang up the phone, the room would be gone if I decided to call back and take it. Therefore I agreed and put my husband on the phone so that he could give him his credit card information. Once my husband was on the phone, this guy changed the whole story telling him it would be $259.99 plus 50.54 for taxes & service fees per night for a total of $931.59. Afterwards, we received our itinerary which shows that we have a room with only 1 queen size bed. It doesn't mention any about a buffet breakfast.
Please note that I made it very clear to this guy that we were 3 people in the room. Also, I could have reserved a 4 Star Hotel (Renaissance Chicago Downtown) for much cheaper at that time. I would like to be fully refunded as we are very upset, insulted and humiliated by the fact that your company can actually treat customers like this. I think this should be absolutely illegal.

The Reservation Counter

I booked early in the morning for a reservation at a hotel in San Diego the same day. When I arrived, the hotel said that they had no reservation that day. I gave the reservation number and found that Reservation Counter booked me on a date 3 weeks later. The hotel said that I can cancel and just pay them directly and I could get a room. When I cancelled that day, I found out a few days later that The Reservation Counter still charged me and would not reverse their charges even if their web ad states that there are no cancellation fees. It also stated on their FAQs when I checked later on that they do not reverse the transaction since it is the hotel policy. When I checked with the hotel, the hotel said that if it is cancelled a few days before, then they will not charge. I tried calling them but as the other complaint mentioned the call loops me back to the website and then back to the long-winded messages on their phone number. I was never able to to talk to anyone. AVOID DEALING WITH THIS COMPANY AT ALL TIMES.

Unldisclosed Cancellation Penalty

I booked a reservation at a hotel in Bostonseveral weeks ahead, having found the link to the Reservation Counter on google for the hotel. I did not like the confirmation email I received, saying that the hotel would actually have my reservation three days before arrival. I googled Reservation Counter and found no positive reviews. When I cancelled that day, I found out a few days later that The Reservation Counter still charged me a penalty and would not reverse their charges even though their web ad states that there are no cancellation fee if I canceled before Feb 13th, which I had. It also stated on their FAQs when I checked later on that they do not reverse the transaction since it is the hotel policy. When I checked with the hotel, the hotel said that if it is cancelled a few days before, then they will not charge. The customer support person lied about the policy and could not show me on their web site where it said that if I canceled before or after Feb 13th, there is a penalty. AVOID DEALING WITH THIS COMPANY AT ALL TIMES.

fraudulant charges

I thought I was reserving a room directly with the hotel Crowne Plaza using their booking company. Turns out it was this was not the case. When trying to book online I got an error code. I immediately stopped and called the number because I didn't want to refresh or retry and end up booking it twice. When I spoke to Nicole, she verified for me it did not go through and she then booked it for me.

I looked at my AmEx bill today and found that the charge was not only wrong, the wrong charge was charged 3 times!!! Instead of being a charge of $360.84, it was a charge of $387.08 three times, totaling $1,161.24.

I immediately called the number and spoke with Richard. Richard advised that he could remove two of the charges but that I'd have to call the hotel to remove the third. I said absolutely not, these charges are in your name, you need to remove them. He said he can't so I told him I want to talk with the manager because this is a scam.

I then talked to Wally. He tried to tell me the same thing. I told him he better get all three charges removed because this is a scam and I'm now reviewing all of the comments on the web about how they are a scam (wish I had done this first). He then said that he needed to call the hotel and would put me on a brief hold. When he came back he said that he had canceled all 3 rooms and that I would receive a refund on all 3 hotels rooms and the price of $387.08 each room. It would take 3-7 days before it shows up on my Am Ex bill. Obviously, I will be checking with AmEx to verify this goes through as well as actually notifying AmEx about the charges and deceptive practices.

He did try to blame it on the internet error but I quickly dispelled that by telling him when I got the error message I called and Nicole verified the charges didn't go through. Besides, why would there be three wrong charges all under the same reservation number that Nicole game me? I have now received three cancellation emails, lets see if the money goes back to AmEx.

Bottom line, check your statement quickly for accuracy.

The Reservation Counter

The hotel was fine. Reservation Counter was definitely NOT! I had originally made reservations (I thought through Expedia) for only THREE rooms, TOTAL. I called the hotel a week before we were to arrive to confirm the reservations and was told there were THREE ROOMS UNDER MY NAME, and TWO UNDER ANOTHER MEMBER OF OUR PARTY. This caused MANY, MANY calls from me between Reservation Counter and the Hampton Inn Marysville (Ohio) trying to get the reservations straightened out. The hotel’s hands were tied because they could not make changes to reservations made through a third party. In addition to the extra rooms mess, the third member of our group wanted a room and a rollaway. I was told by Reservation Counter that the rollaway could go into a room with two double beds. It could not. I had to cancel the one double beds room and reserve a king bed room to accommodate the rollaway. I finally got the King bed room straightened out, but I still had 2 rooms under my name and 2 under the other party. ANOTHER call to Reservation Counter and I was guaranteed that I had only 1 room, and the other party had 1 room. When we arrived at the hotel last Saturday, we both STILL had two rooms under our names. The hotel called Reservation Counter and FINALLY got it straightened out. I thought I had made the reservations through Expedia. The hotel said it was through Expedia and gave me an 800 number to call. When I called Expedia I was told the reservation was not through them. I have no idea how Expedia and Reservation Counter got linked, and then unlinked. To add insult to injury, it would have been cheaper to book the rooms directly through the hotel. Once again, the hotel was great; Reservation Counter was a disaster.

Richmonds Suite

Misrepresentation of the Richmond Suites In Lake Charles was told it was a 4 star. Explained that it could not be in a high crime area due to it being a business trip. Husband arrived at property and it was locked behind a 6 foot fence due to the high crime. We called to try and cancel they told stated that he had no other choice then to stay for the 8 days. There was no manger on site that we was able to talk to and they would not call the either. This place is a scam I will never book with them ever again. They are leading I will call the hotel direct. At this point I am out of 1154.59.

Jack

I tried booking a hotel in California on line and I was directed to reservationcounter.com which I thought was the actual hotel booking website. I booked the room and it was debited to my credit card. I never received any email for conformation of my reversation. I later had to change my plans so I did not stay that week. I called the hotel to cancel but they told me I did not have a reservation. It wasn't until I checked my card statement that I found out that they charged me for the full week because I did not cancel with reservation.com. I feel that they were very deceptive in booking the reservation and I had no information about their cancellation policies, it was difficult to talk with their agents because of their english proficiency and the lack of understanding of the nuances in the english language. I will most assuredly never use this booking agency ever again. My office travels extensively and I will warn all of the other staff to be on the look out for this company and do not under any circumstances do business with them.

Misrepresenting Hotel Brands and condition

This service displays incorrect hotel brands and conditions. Hotel I reserved looked good and was represented as a name brand hotel when in fact it was a flea bag, off brand hotel in disrepair. Upon arriving at hotel I called and cancelled reservation and even though it was after cancellation period I was assured via phone and email my credit card would be credited the full amount. I have tried to resolve to know avail. They say their person made no mistake. They obviously did not listen to their recordings of their employee making false statements.

The Reservation Counter

This service pretends to represent the hotel you are trying to book with. They will say "Reservation Desk" when they answer the phone. They do not disclose that they are a third party and not affiliated with the hotel. Personnel at the Hilton in Springfield, VA gave me this number. Assuming they were giving me the number to their reservation desk, I called a got help booking a hotel. The Reservation Counter will then book a hotel for you, but charge you an additional fee. You believe you booked through the hotel, but you actually called a third party, who didn't explain this. Then, when you look at your credit card statement, it will be completely different from the receipt you received from the hotel. Highly disappointed with Hilton in Springfield VA, but will for sure NEVER accidentally call this number again. 8448361720; 844-836-1720, 801-010-0832

Reservation Counter Scam

On January 17, 2016 I went online to look up the Hampton Inn in Nashville, TN (1919 West End Ave., near Vanderbilt University). When I entered the information in the search engine the first choice I received seemed to be the website for the hotel. What I did not realize at the time is that this was actually the website of a third party booking agency (Reservation Counter) that uses the logo of the hotel to mislead potential clients.

I called the phone number listed on the website to inquire about reserving a room. The representative on the phone never stated that he was working for an outside company. I believe he started the conversation with "Reservation Counter" or "Reservation Desk" which led me to believe that I was speaking to an employee of the hotel at their reservation desk (especially since I thought I was calling the hotel based on the number from the website).

Maybe I should have seen the signs during the phone conversation, the representative spoke rapidly and asked for my credit card information after quoting me a rate for a one night stay. I thought this was being done to reserve the room, but my card was immediately charged. The nightly fee for the hotel was $139, but I was quoted a price of $170.00. When I asked about his I was told that these were fees and service charges. I was also told that this was to be expected on a holiday weekend (Dr. King Holiday weekend).

As it turns out these are fees that they collect for their "services" which is in addition to what you would have paid the hotel for a direct booking. So they aren't doing you any favors they are charging you for something you could've done for less on your own. However, I didn't even realize I was dealing with an outside party at the time of the call, I thought I was dealing with the hotel.

I experienced problems while traveling and knew that I would not be able to make it to the hotel. When I called the hotel I was told that I did not make a reservation with them. They stated that I made a reservation with Expedia (it took them a while to figure this out). I then called Expedia and I was told that I did not make a reservation with them, but with a third party that they are affiliated with (it also took them a while to figure this out). At this point I was truly confused because I never knew I was dealing with an outside party. This third party booking agency is Reservation Counter, also known as Reservation Desk.

When I called Reservation Counter they informed me that they have a no cancellation/no refund policy and although I would not be able to make it to the hotel I could not be reimbursed. When I checked my email I saw that this policy was stated in a confirmation email which also appears as if it is from hotel.

I was scammed. Perhaps I should have seen the signs. I do feel that they mislead people and take advantage of consumers.

When I researched this company I discovered that my story is not unique. Many people have had the same if not worse experiences.

They were "hijacked" when doing an online search

They thought they were dealing directly with the hotel

Their credit card was immediately charged

The fee exceeded the amount that would have been charged by booking directly with the hotel

They do not allow refunds, cancellations or changes

What makes this situation worse is the fact they charge consumers more than the actual hotel charges to book a room. I am also disappointed with the hotel and Expedia for participating in this scam. They are aware of this company's fraudulent practices, yet they don't seem to be concerned. I guess everyone is happy as long as they're making money.

Hopefully others will heed the warning and avoid these scammers.

Stolen Money fron This Company

SCAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Called number I thought was a hotel. Was told numerous times I called the correct number. Was told pre reserved rooms to rent out of town were booked, but they could reserve rooms at a higher price. Rooms were rented. When actual hotel was called guess what?? Plenty of rooms left at the lower price. Canceled the rooms through this company. Never received a refund. When they were called a Sean and Derrick talked on the phone. Derrick said that I had to pay a $50 charge from a pre paid Visa card and said he could not deduct it from my original Visa card. After giving him the pre paid Visa number Derrick promptly made a purchase to a company called Sascom. Never refunded my $450.00. As I was cancelling my credit card .... Derrick or Sean was trying to make another purchase on my credit card. My banking institution caught it and denied the purchase. They lied numerous times to myself and my wife. A complaint has been filed with the BBB and the Attorney General's office. BEWARE!!!!
[email protected] 1-844-774-7726 Ask for Sean or Derrick. Another number 1-866-460-7456

RIP OFF

WOW, I will from this point on make sure I am speaking with the actual hotel, what a misleading web sight I was on. Like so many other comments I assumed I was speaking to the reservation desk at the Four Seasons, (BUT I WASN'T ) What a RIP OFF !!! why would you not be able to refund someones money, when you receive a call 3 weeks before the reservation date???? What peoples planes don't EVER CHANGE!!!! Oh that's right because it was a promotion (MY ASS) this company is nothing but crooks, and should be shut down!

I looked up the Hotel the Four Seasons and they told me unfortunately there is nothing they can do, Because it was a promotion rate, so I asked, can I make other reservations at another Four Seasons, the answer, No, it has to be that one, but I have up till July to make a new reservation so we don't loose $2827.99. YES $2827.99... SMH and this (RIP OFF Reservation Counter) never even offered that.

Very Up set, and will never again use their services again!
