The Pimsleur Approach program is not a scam or fraudulent. Most of these comments don't even comment on the product itself, just issues people had with shipping, billing and things of the sort. If you want to comment on problems with that then there should be a separate topic based solely on that. I find it very ridiculous how people order things off the Internet without reading the terms and conditions and the fine print. IT"S OFF THE INTERNET PEOPLE!! You should take the time read them for a lot of the things your purchase. If after reading the terms and conditions, it would have been known that after purchasing the offer you would later be charged for future shipments and so on and so on. Don't just order things off the Internet just according to how you perceive it to be without actually reading the terms and conditions and say that you have been deceived or it's a fraud. Also when it comes to ordering products on line from the Internet or by call and pay by phone, I don't recommend it since too many people have issues. Which is why I recommend just getting it from Amazon or eBay. You get what you ordered with a greatly slighter chance of shipping problems and you don't have to worry about automatic recurrent payments.
Now to talk about the product and my personal experience with it, the Pimsleur Approach is real deal. It does exactly what it says it does. When I began taking French in high school i quickly saw that it was not very effective when it actually being able to use and communicate in the language. At first I decided to take french since it was a language I needed to learn and was thrilled at the opportunity of being able to do so.
Being Congolese, I come from a french speaking family and culture. Unfortunately, my parents never really spoke to me in french or in any of the other languages they knew. A reason for that would be for some reason there are some American doctors that tell foreigners not to teach their children their native language, because this is America they must speak English and too many languages being spoken at home will delay a child's development. And being foreign and seeing that this is being said by an AMERICAN doctor, they must be right therefore some comply.
So within the first few months of class I could pick up the material a little better than the others because I was already accustomed to hearing french so some of the stuff just clicked. But, it still was not enough. So I began searching for language learning software and programs that could help me out. None of them seemed to be efficient. Finally I came across Pimsleur. After trying it I could actually start conversing with my dad in french. My classmates began to see that I was actually somewhat of a french speaker and my teacher even commented several times that I should be in French 2 not French 1. Also on my trip to visit family members in Congo, many of them were surprised on how well my french was for an American and with no accent. Here in the states I attend mass in french, and even the fellow french and french speaking church goers noticed how well I am able to speak in french. Pimsleur Approach is definitely a great program, and I would highly recommend it.

Stop Complaining and take responsibility for your actions. The website clearly states that you will revive other orders. I saw the terms and conditions, why didn't anybody else? Oh i know.. because you didn't READ.. Now how is that their fault? Smh.. get it together...When I called to return I didn't get through either, but on their website you can chat live with a rep, and they gave me return info... I bet none of you thought of that, now did you... Of course not...

Frauduletnt sales technique and scam
I resently purchased 4 Quick and Simple language CD sets from Pimsleur. After reading these scam alerts and when the programs were one day late I called and stayed online till I was greeted by a representative. Her name is Charlene. She was very polite and located all my sets as to where they were. I explained what my intent was and we parted conversation. The next day I received two of my sets and the following day I received the third. One is on back order and in their warehouse. I fill sure I will receive this one also. I did also receive the Gold program that I did not want. I again called and stated I did not intend to order or want this program. The lady (whose name slips me) informed me that after my earlier conversation with Charlene the Gold program was cancelled to all programs. When I get my back ordered program I will of course verify this. These people were very courteous and proffessional. My only complaint is the way the Gold program is included and apparently many others have the same problem. This is poor copywriting and should be corrected. FM Sexton [email protected] 1/20/12

This is clearly an insider writing the review. I have seen this same "Read people" post on several complaint boards. It's so lame that this scam company has people who actually try to make a fraudulent company look good. People, run as fast as you can from this company. Report them to the BBB, attorney general, and anyone else you can think of.

Deceptive, Misleading
I, too, have had the same misleading advertisement scam get the best of me. I just recently received the second shipment, which I did not want or order and now must deal with sending it back in a timely fashion (at my expense). After checking with my charge card account, a fee had not yet been assessed, but that may soon change. I am pleased with the initial discs received and the instruction given, but this attempt to lure in customers as the previous poster mentioned is both deceptive and inexcusable behavior from a reputable company...very disappointed. For that reason alone, would not order from this company again and would not recommend it to others.

I used to work for a reputable company that also had an automatic reorder program that the customer was entered into by placing an Internet order. Many people as you suggested did not read the entire page and select to opt out. I ordered the $10 trial and opted out of additional products. I had no issue and enjoyed my language CDs. Before anyone attacks me I DO NOT WORK FOR PIMSLEUR but I do not understand so many people missing the opt out option. It seemed pretty clear to me. If people would stop avoiding responsibility and blaming everyone else for their failure to read ALL of the information, these complaints wouldn't be necessary. People referring to others as idiots are mad at their own incompetence. Sorry :-(
