Mywot is a scam and a spyware site
MyWot.com is the worst thing that has ever hit the internet so far. MyWot is a scam on massive scale and I am writing this post to expose them.
They call themselves “The Web Of Trust” LOL!! MYWOT is a user powered rating site (with top 100 members who are nothing more than power hungry zealots that can gang up on you if they choose so)
Nobody would actually care if Facebook didn’t start using their data to protect their user base from malicious links being force-fed to them. We all know that scams thrive on Facebook but this is not the way.
Everytime you have an entity that has power to wipe out someone’s business overnight it creates corruption, mistrust, and a free pass for the true scams to grow even bigger. I am going to give you some proof that this is already happening on MYWOT and how their site should not be trusted.

Facebook does not use them, facebook buys them. Think of it this way, fb rich wot poor, WOT gives facebook bad ratings facebook says, we shut you down we have more cash, then huge turn around and facebook number one in all around customer satisfaction. Big announcement facebook partners up with WOT, anyone smell a fish? It would be a good idea if it wasn’t such a scam.
Money is what really buys trust when it comes to WOT. The company was almost in the toilet and facebook payed them millions to shut them down or rate facebook number one. We who have known all the problems facebook has had can’t imagine it rating number one in everything. In the world.
So if I get a million bucks or whatever it takes to buy trust, maybe I will be able to get my site out of the toilet??
This is Spyware people, plain and simple. I thought it was a good concept until I learned how it works. They are building the largest database of personal info they mine while users falsely think they are safe now.
Persistent cookies, no enforcement of their own TOS or third party like Whois. These people think all websites are a threat unless they get their trust seal for almost 500 dollars a year!

If what Vicky L. says is true, then why aren't more users complaining ? I started using myWoT because other users on other forums were giving it thumbs up. Seems to me that WOT needs to watch what others browse if they are doing any intelligence analysis. Persistent cookies: How are they to evaluate any user votes or comments? If they didn't want you to see what they upload, they could have masked or encrypted it in the plugin. There are three AV programs (besides Norton which is too invasive and CPU greedy) which we use and not one is perfect: (1) AVG is least CPU hungry, (1) AVAST is great for games because of its "sandbox" feature which isolates risky applications, Avira which is configurable to a fault and when fully configured, Avira can slow down a computer by examining the uploads and downloads. Apple computers seem not as vulnerable as Windows platforms but their methods are primarily proprietary although they appear to support MacScan2 to remove viruses which could infect Windows programs. Linux is a forest of complexity but may be configured to be more secure than other platforms because it has smaller market share: Fedora or ubuntu Linux distributions are rated by distrowatch dot com to be among the most popular for desktops. These two have different strategies for security: SELinux (secure enterprise) for Fedora and apparmor (similar in concept to "sandbox") for ubuntu. The bottom line is that the malware hacker and "privacy indifference" industries are so aggressive that (as techies know) they are always closer to the edge of technology than the anti-malware industry. (Just check out the the latest bills proposed in the U.S. Congress which tend to justify apparent violations of the U.S. Constitution. ) Safety is in the hands of the user. Work diligently. Work smart.

So, whatever your method of malware defense, keep your computer updated. Persistently. Set the auto updaters to check every day and on every reboot. For privacy issues, pester your local and national legislators.

We use myWOT in addition to an anti-virus and so far AVG has not complained. About anything and we loaded myWOT after updating AVG. I don't think WOT ever intended that MyWOT be used without an anti-virus. It would not protect most email programs which run without a web browser.

MyWOT Web of Trust
MyWOT has a community of high level users that get to decide if they like your website or not. If they do not then then rate it low and there is nothing you can do about. They make false statements that we sell drugs, identity theft, and are deceptive. We then use the support method to have customers rate our website, but that was a waste. We just opened them up to the communities hate. They can delete the positive posts and put their posts at the top.
We do not directly offer surgery and we in no way offer drugs. We help customers collect information about places in Thailand so they can make accurate information. We make no decisions for them, but only help provide information. During their time here, we are their guide and driver.
No one seems interested in reading what we do. It seems like some personal grudge to just take advantage. We read in the support to have our friends and customer come in rate and now users are trying to use that against us as well. We care about our business and if we were some sort of scam we wouldn't spend the time to register here or even list here at all.
If anyone here has ever run a small business they would know how difficult is and how much it means to the owner. It is not easy to tell people to register on a website and comment in favor of your website.
People are making assumtions and judgement about us. We listed here to help list our company details. Not to list a scam in a website that protects against scams. How do we combat negitive reviews from non-customers that are claiming we are associated with botched surgeries, credit card fraud or selling drugs?
The ironic thing is, is that mywot is difficult to contact. There is not information about them, and after flagging libel comments nothing happens. This is not what this website is for and it seems many business have had similar problems with their high level users. I do not think mywot is a bad company, but their high level users get to dictate if you are accepted or not instead of how this website states websites are rated.
Doing this will probably enrage the communtiy more, and hurt our rating. However, the company can not survive if it is not true to its mission and provides bogus reporting.

MYWOT IS FRAUD, SCAM and RANSOMWARE
I came across MyWOT as they rated a client's site badly. After talking to their SuperUsers we found out very quickly, it had nothing to do with valid reasons but rather to "indirectly" sell their seals. They don't explicitly sell their seals -- they know if they did that they would be in jail sooner than they eventually will be. They lead you to pages where they show how buying a seal will help ratings. That's called RANSOMWARE.

I'm part of the MyWOT Destruction Group and we are a growing community that will stop at nothing but seeing Sami and his band of crooks behind bars. It will be a nice picture to see Sami getting fucked in the ass by SuperHero58 taking it from behind from Kraftwerk and the list goes on.

myWOT Web of Trust Lies
I first went to this website to leave a comment for another website that was false reported. This then brought attacks to my website. I dont see a way to have your website's reputation improved after their high level users slander it. You will just be marked as spam if you try to comment favorably. Support does nothing to help. They do more on here to try and hide these comments.

myWOT Review
Watch out for this website. Their name says Web of Trust but it is nothing of the sort. They either willingly turn a blind eye to the abuse their moderators can unlesh on business to ruin their reputation, or they are completely incompotent. Either way stay away from it!

Mywot is a complete Scam
Under no circumstances ever install that tool. It gives you no safety at all. Mywot ratings can be easily manipulated or you can just pay for a good rating. If you are a websiteowner and got a bad rating and you have no idea why, do not go on their support forum. You will find there the rudest people you ever met on a forum and they have the absolut power to downrate youre website forever. Just manipulate the wot rating like everyboy does. Its easy, no hacking skills required if you do not figure out how to do it ask the next internet nerd.
