Employment

After reading these posts about MMI Marketing and Moxy Marketing I decided to email them back and cancel my Pittsburgh intterview. I was told on Friday that I will be interviewing for an executive position with them making anywhere from $35, 000 to $ 45, 000 a year, I have been unemployed for about 4 months and a recent college graduate. I have been seeking work dailey and it seems after the 1st of the year I am getting more offers. But of course this interview with MMI Marketing, I will not be attending it is not worth my time or gas. If I see this many negative posts on the internet it has to be true an actual scam. I have been to scam interviews in the past and found it a waste of time and a joke. I thank all of you for posting and I hope that this place and people are put out of business and sued for what they have done to people... Thank you

Everything that everyone has written on this board is 100% true. I interviewed in October and when I got a second alone with two other interviewers, a woman asked me if I knew what this company actually was. I told her I was pretty sure it was door to door sales because I found (what is now) MMI Marketing on a blog alerting me to the scam. When I went to talk to Ashley, she was dressed so unprofessionally... cleavage all out. I couldn't stop staring because it was so in my face and distracting. Ryan tries to talk to you like your old girlfriends so that you're enthusiastic about the job and can't wait to go see your new friends at work. On Dec. 23, I got a call from Ryan to see if I was still interested. I never returned the call. It was a complete waste of my time, however I did use my interview with MMI Marketing as a mock interview, so I at least am much more comfortable interviewing. Direct Marketing Solutions (DMS) is also another scam in Greentree/Crafton. They even inspired me to write a blog on them: http://thoughtsablaze.wordpress.com/2012/01/08/how-to-spot-a-scam/

Employment

My story is not that much different from the other ones that are on this page. I started working for MMI Marketing or Moxy Marketing or whatever the hell she's calling it now back in June of 2011. I was fresh out of college and have a bit of criminal background so I wasn't able to get work in my field because of the charges ( which I am still dealing with, but that's a story for another site). So imagine my surprise when I was called in for an interview. During the first interview I disclosed everything about the charges and was told that what was on my background didn't matter. Then during the outing with the corporate trainer I explained my situation again and was told everything would be fine. So they decided to hire me and I needed the job so of course I happily excepted. I took $600 of my own money and purchased two new suits because I figured I would make it back in no time. This is when the problems started. To make this an easier read I will break them down into points.
1. First day on the job my trainer told me his car was in the shop and asked if I would drive. After I said yes he informed me we had to take another rep to her territory which was completely out of the way.
2. We closed an account that first day and I was told we would split the commission 50/50, but I never saw any of that money.
3. After I survived the first week, I was informed that they were making a business trip to Johnstown, Pa and they wanted me to go. I didn't really have a choice in the matter so obviously I said yes. I was told to meet them in Johnstown at 8 a.m. on Monday morning.
4. I told them the Friday before the business trip that I had to be back in Monroeville, Pa Monday night to pick up the suits I bought. I had to have alterations done before I could wear them. I asked if I could go up on Tuesday instead of Monday and was told if I missed a day of work I would be terminated because I was new hire. They then informed me that they would reimburse for the gas i used driving to Johnstown Monday morning the back to Monroeville then back to Johnstown Monday night. I never saw that money either.
5. Five of us went on the business trip and they only rented one hotel room, so I ended sleeping on an air mattress that I had in the trunk of my car. (I knew that thing would come in handy lol).
6. While in Johnstown, I closed one account only to find out that when I made the "Trust Call" I was not giving all of the documentation I was required to give to the client. After making many phone calls to my trainer I finally got a hold of him so I could retrieve the paperwork, drove to meet him and then drove back to the client only to make another "Trust Call" using my cell minutes.
7. After the business trip I was assigned my own territory, but here the kicker I actually drove past my territory to get to Southside every morning. So basically I sat in 2 hours of traffic every morning to go to the pointless morning meetings then backtracked to to get to my territory. If that wasn't bad enough I spent another 45 min in traffic getting from my territory, which was in Penn Hills, back to the office, then spent another hour or two in traffic getting home.
8. After spending about a week in my territory I knew this job wasn't for me but figured I would give it a little more time. When I returned to the office that day Ashley asked if she could speak to me. She sat me down and told me that my background check came back and the because of the charges they were going to have to let me go. These were the same charges that I told them about when they hired me and now all the sudden they're a problem. What a steaming pile of bullshit. Not wanting to get fired from my first real job I asked if there was anything I could do. Ashley told me to write a letter of appeal to there attorney and see if he would fight the charges so I could continue working there.
9. I wrote the appeal and e-mailed to the HR manager who forwarded it to there attorney. I was told to come in on Monday and continue to work until they received the results. Monday night when I returned to the office Ashley told me that their attorney denied my request and I was going to be let go. She apologized and even said she would write a letter of recommendation. I would hate to see what that letter said.
10. Two and half to three weeks later I received a check from them for $168. No reimbursement for gas and not even the full commission from the account I closed.
Sorry if I was a little long winded, but I want everyone to know what they put me through after lying to my face. Everything you read on this page is true. It is one of the biggest Pyramid scams out there. The people are not trustworthy and they are not your friends and the company is sham from top to bottom. Please be ware of any job that sound to go to be true because it probably is. I wish I would have done more research before I decided to waste my time and a shit ton of money.
I'm making more now as a supervisor at Shop n Save than I ever would have from MMI. Good luck to everyone out there looking for a job, I wish you the best. L. Brinker
