SCAM ARTIST FROM USA
Do not expect any refund. trust me, you will get more customer service by sticking your head in a toilet full of shit then you will from them. They pretent to help & that is the game to get you even more pissed off, the latest is offers to purchase their device at reduced cost but then they refuse to process the order

I've used MagicJack for years and it has been flawless.
You can port in your old number.
A new number is free.
If your calls are dropping or timing out usually that is an internet issue.
Maybe they have different rates and rules for Canada.

Magicjack is far from flawless I spent 3.5 hours in a chat with their representatives, they respond back every 10-15 minutes totally unexceptible and they have no clue what they are doing. The calls do time out and it is discused in many locations on the internet . In Canada you cannot port your # and it is $10 per year extra for a Canadian # so yes it is false advertizing as they advertize in Canada.
Piece of junk do not buy one. I can't believe this site has them for one of their sponsors.
Read all the comments on the internet before purchasing if you don't believe me.

scam
different rates apply to Canada.
As for the different rates, it is clearly states in their FAQ's:
"A small fee may apply for additional features such as Vanity, Custom, and Canadian numbers "
It has been flawless for me, but then again I live in the US and all the features are free as well. I have never had to speak to them for support, because I have never had a problem, nor have any of my calls ever timed out.
If there are many places these issues are discussed online, perhaps it would've been wise for you to read them prior to purchasing.

I purchased Magic Jack from Walmart in hopes to decrease my monthly phone bill and also have long distance. Low and behold it sucked! I purchased it last Friday hooked everything up and had a dial tone one minute and tried to call my husbands cell phone (he was sitting right next to me), and his phone didn't even ring. Then I hung up and couldn't get a dial tone for a while. Then I called my cell phone and my cell phone was ringing and then hung up the home phone through MJ and my cell kept ringing. I purchased the 1 year warranty when signing up and they tell me it is non-refundable. It's very minimal but that's not the point. Oh yeah and they tell you they can transfer your number but they don't tell you they charge you for it. Customer Service is good for nothing and they do not have a phone number to contact a real person...BUYER BEWARE!!! Try something else...because this product is a joke and not worth the aggrevation!

I've used this device in Canada for 2 1/2 years, I just paid my yearly fee of $29 two months ago, and yesterday I have a sign saying "one or more of your phone numbers has expired" and I have had my phone shut off and blocked. They had not bothered to charge me a $10 per year Canadian phone number fee for two years...THEIR FAULT...and cut me off without warning. I don't have a credit card so now have to go to 7-11 and buy another credit card, in the meantime I have no phone. The customer service were English as second language and useless, one "supervisor" ended the chat because they didn't feel like continuing the complaint (they hung up on me) I then called back and wanted a return of my money and return the device, which they also refused. This is classic shake down...they have my money and I get no service and now they want more money. Also if you talk on the device for over 70 minutes, it will shut off and you have to wait 5 minutes for it to allow a new call. This is garbage and their must be a better device and company to deal with.
