Fraudulent claims

This happened to me..
I went in to try and get the holiday RAL that was being advertised and I only had my last check stub and I advised the preparer this was not my only job she said no problem. I was told I didnt qualify so I had signed a paper stating that I didnt want my taxes prepared by them. I was going to do it my self for free. I started getting calls from them in Jan which I didnt answer thinking they were just trying to get me to come back in. Then I got a voicemail from a manager telling me to respond immediately so I called back. Evidently the person I had seen in December kept my info and submitted my file to the IRS so soon as she could and applied me for the 2-4 weeks loan without my permission or my W2 from my other jobs and I had a check there. I complained all the way to their coporate office and didnt get the fees almost 600 refunded to me until June and it still was only 200 they gave me back and had to file an admended return to cover myself from being audited.

So where were you when they were doing your taxes without your W2? As far as I know you have to sign your return before it is submitted, did you question them on this before you signed? Did you ask about the fee that they were going to charge you?

Scammed, Lied to, and Ripped off

I was looking for a complaint forum to post a complaint about my experience with Instant Tax Service and ran across this one. They are NOT the most upfront place to go to get your taxes done. The only reason I went is because of the holiday advance loan they were advertising like crazy, which of course, they used as bait to lure you in. If this post does nothing but help one person avoid these people I will be glad. Basically, it is a con they use because in order to apply for the advance you have to provide your last check stub of the filing year (which they hold until you return with your w2's) and they do actually prepare (not file) your tax return at that time then claim to advance you an amount of $50 to $1000 based on your anticipated return. The con is that if you accept the loan you have to go back and file with them but what they don't explain or provide you with is COPIES of any fee scale or cost breakdown at the time of the loan for them to do your taxes. I actually did ask upfront how much their preparation fees were and if there was any interest on the loan and was told their prep fee was $250 flat and no loan interest---okay. Let me just say that my loan they approved me for was $300 but when i went back to file with my w2's the preparer hands me copies of my filing forms back (unsigned nor dated by him) and then hand writes my refund difference on a seperate sheet of paper. No detailed cost breakdown or fee explanation of the huge $560 gap in my return which didn't even include the $300 loan they advanced either. I pissed a fit and demanded something explaining something and the manager claimed basically they system doesn't allow them to go back and print anything with an actual fee breakdown once they process the return because the bank does all of the fee estimates which they have no control over...um hmmm. I kept pressing and received a copy surprising enough with my signature on it dated from when I got the $300 holiday advance explaining fee estimates and would you believe not the $250 preparer fee I was initially told but an added $49 e-file fee & $40 bank document fee totaling $339 in preparer fees!! In addition, another $220 in bank fees for basically setting up and handling their direct deposit of my refund into THEIR bank account!!! Not surprising that their bank happens to be Bank of America... Now I see why they didn't want me to have a copy of the fee estimate so I wouldn't have any proof of their outrageous fee scale. I also had the preparer sign and date my tax documents since he didn't on my copies (another red flag). At this point all I can do is pray I get my check and learn from my mistake of accepting a $300 tax advance loan from this company. They like most predators take advantage of people in desperate situations. I hope this helps others avoid that place like a plague.

Scammed, Lied to, and Ripped off

Well, Just logged on to say, when I finally went to pick up my check. Take a guess, another $75 was taken! Can ANYONE please tell me why i was charge a total of $750 for tax preparations? I tried to ask them they didn't know ( oh by the way the "manager" quit midstream). They had a "new" manager who by the way was the secretary in training when I went in on the 20th of Dec! ( so they gave you a crash course in filling taxes and overseeing a company within 14 days?!) No wonder I received the service that I did. Oh well to late to be upset now. Continue to pass it on DO NOT GO TO INSTANT TAX! And keep those complaints coming.

Scammed, Lied to, and Ripped off

Hello to ALL:
I too filed my tax return at Instant Tax Service and had the same issues occur that each of you did. I filed mine at the location in Chicago Heights, IL. and after all of the bogus lies and stories I continued to fight for my money. I do not know where each of you live but their is a way to find out who the head person is at each of the branches. If you notice at the bottom of the return it does not say Instant Tax Service that filed your return. On my return in particular it says ERG Financial. When searching for someone to speak after getting into with a supervisor at the Chicago location that oversees the Chicago Heights location that I went the supervisor told me that there was NO ONE else I could speak to and that the person will be out of town until Friday After our heated argument and me telling her that I was going to put her company on the chopping block with Mo Money Taxes I went home and started doing my research. I typed ERG Financial in the Google search bar and got the name of the gentle man that handles the office that I went to and the location in Chicago, IL. I spoke to him about all of my issues and concerns and how the supervisor had initially told me she would refund me the $150 and then later tried to say that she made an error and confused me with another customer. That mind you did not even exist. I also found out that the gentle man that I spoke to was the husband of the supervisor that I had gotten into it with. When it was all said and done I received $150 of my fees returned to me. One in a $50 check because she claimed it was an error and the other $100 from the man that I just picked up today. The crazier thing about it all is that when I called to make sure it was their the person that prepared my return told me that he told the man that I did not deserve to get the money and it should have just been the $50 so I picked up the folded up check off his desk and walked out of the office. If anyone needs help doing some research let me know I will try to help in any way that I can.

they told me I'll get my taxes within two week and disappeared

Scam! Submited my taxes with them, they gave me a loan for $50 and told me I'm getting a $2000+ within two weeks, and when I got the money I couldn't claim it because there was no possibility to contact them and their office is closed! Avoid them!
