InfoSec bootcamp nightmare

In July I purchased an accelerated 13 day computer bootcamp style training class to obtain a my MCSE certification from Microsoft. The class covers five different courses with an exam at the end of each course.

The course material and testing aids were completely inadequate. The course material was out of date and did not cover key topics needed to successfully pass the exams. The study aids which are a key component to being successful in the course was nothing more than a pirated copy of software they refer to as VCE’s. These VCE’s were not only filled with errors and discrepancies, they did not contain the current question set that would be relevant to the current exams offered by Microsoft. These deficiencies in the course material and the VCE’s became evident after the third day when the entire class failed the first exam. This was in stark contrast to the 93% + pass rate advertised when I registered for the course. This is just couple of examples of where I feel that InfoSec falsely advertised the offerings and services that would be provided as part of the course.

After the failure of the first exam and 50% dropout rate of the class, InfoSec had a senior level representative, Scott Feldman call into the class to address these deficiencies. During this call Mr. Feldman acknowledged that Microsoft had changed the exams a matter of days before the class began and they were caught off guard by these changes. Mr. Feldman assured the class that InfoSec would do what was necessary to meet the training needs of each of the students that remained in the class. Mr. Feldman stated in the call this would include but not be limited to receiving updated material, special teaching sessions, new test vouchers and even offered one on one tutoring. (I recorded the phone call where they acknowledged the issues along with what they would do to rectify the problems. Since returning from the class I have repeatedly attempted to contact InfoSec via phone as well as through email. I have only received a few vague email responses about how they are still working on the problem and “if I were the neighborhood next time they offered the class I could sit in”. InfoSec has not offered to make good on what was promised on the call in the form of special training or updated VCE’s etc. In fact they have not responded to my emails nor have they initiated any new communication.

In addition to the training issues, they have not provided me with the unused test vouchers or any of the makeup test vouchers. The test vouchers are supposed to be included in the price of the class. But since I have been unable to contact InfoSec I have had to purchase my own test vouchers at a cost of $150 each for a total of $600. Furthermore I have had to purchase new material and study aids from other sources which have cost me an addition $390.
I feel that InfoSec has failed to deliver what was sold to me when I registered for the course and took no steps to remediate the situation. This failure has left me with no confidence that they can or will be able to provide me with an adequate solution. So at this time I seeking a refund of $6,400 for the class and reimbursement for my Hotel/Travel expense totaling another $2,300.
