Dear Lila Sylvia
Our intention at Harmony Retreat has always been to provide a loving safe haven for those in need to fully recover from the issues they face in life. Thus we were very sorry to read your comments and we do apologize that you have left with a negative impression.
However, in response to your points please note:
- Patients are admitted to our program out of their own accord, and as such there is no obligation to notify their families etc of any 'hiccups' in their recovery. Ofcourse in the instance of a relapse / issue, families and sponsors are notified straight away.
- We have two registered Nurses on staff -- this in addition to our highly experienced and qualified counseling staff.
- As the Retreat is situated in the countryside on a large farmstead it is a given that muddy shoes and dirt are part of day to day life. Whilst our accommodation is basic, it is in no way "filthy" and we find it unfortunate that the Retreat was not up to your standard. With dedicated cleaning staff and Team Monitors, we make every effort to ensure the strict upkeep of our premises.
- Regretfully, instances of misbehaviour do happen on occasion at Harmony Retreat. We do however deal with any offenses very severely, and any Resident who refuses to adhere to the Retreats rules faces program termination.
- With extensive accommodation built all around our premises, we have never had any issues with overcrowding -- so much so, that many residents even have their own private bedrooms.
With Kind Regards,
Harmony Retreat Management.

I have been to 3 other drug rehabilitation facilities with no success to getting over my drug addiction. I then spent over two and a half years at harmony retreat, becoming a leader and was involved in the day to day running of the retreat. During my recovery I also had times of misbehavior, and I thank the Lord that Gad & Pam did not kick me out, but nurtured me & everyone else at the retreat with care, love & understanding. After my first 4 months I had a major relapse, I am a drug addict where would I have been today should they had kicked me out. I have been drug free for over six years now and if it where not for the way we are cared for at Harmony Retreat God help us. I am still in contact with over 15 drug addicts that I met at Harmony that I know are drug free. I suggest that you do proper research and get your facts right. I would not hesitate to recommend anyone who has a problem to Gad Avnon. Well done Gad and Pam we thank you for the wonderful work you guys do.
Daryl Zululand.
