Stole $460
Hello,
I was an Extreme Fitness member before GoodLife acquired them. As I study in Waterloo which has no Extreme Locations, I was assured that I could accumulate time credits while I was living in Waterloo as long as I provided them with my transcript. So I continued to pay for my membership even though the account was frozen and I was in a different city without access to any Extreme Fitness gyms. Once I returned from school, I found out that Extreme had been bought out and that my membership had been cancelled. When the General Manager at the gym explained that it was beyond his control, he forwarded me to head office. I assumed head office would resolve a simple issue like this extremely quickly. Turns out, head office claims that GoodLife does not accept any of Extreme's liabilities and that my eight months of pre-paid gym membership was gone. I paid $60/month for 8 months while I was away for school and when I came back, they refused to let me into the gym. I cannot understand how a company as large as GoodLife can purchase another company without honoring the liabilities of that company. I am currently seeking legal representation to help me sue GoodLife Fitness and teach this company that they cannot steal from it's members without consequences.
I hope that everyone who reads this understands that there are better fitness centers than GoodLife. Do not believe a word that those sales people tell you even if you have e-mail confirmations. They only care about earning comission and will lie to your face in order to do so.
Sincerely,
An extremely frustrated ex-member.
