Broken Promises Recurring £Charges

i agree and have had bad experience with them, i payed them and nobody contacted me, after seven weeks i called them, they sent me a form, i filled it in, i assumed a designer would call but they didnt, they produced a website that i thought was some sort of joke. i told them to bin it and keep the money, then a sales girl called me a month later asking me if i wanted a website, i explained and she said designer would call. he did and i got nothing from them, finally i visited them after new year and they fixed it and put it live, but on friday they put details of my name i didnt want on web & i called and left message but they ignored it . instead they sent me an email saying i had purchased the google indexing search package which i hadnt. i didnt have a good feeling from the start, i knew it was a gamble, but i just thought i would risk £200, but it wasnt worth the hassle, i am checking my options now, !

EMS cold called me and were very pleasant, then after I bought a website the pressure began. They rang me and told me if I did not have my website hosted by EMS immediately it would cost me double in the future. After I signed up for this I then discovered that nearly £500 for search engine indexing is a complete rip off.I have been trying to get a refund but it's impossible.I was very rudely spoken to by Sarah in customer services. Avoid this company at all costs.

I agree, I was under the impression that I would be getting a totally new personalised website that would be made for me and managed too. They have taken a lot of money and given me a template design (which is what I had!!!) but changed the colours and they also expect me to sit and copy everything I want on it. They are also charging extra to have PayPal integrated on it despite me already having a PayPal account and paying for it separately (the buttons from PayPal are free). They also mis sold to me on the phone, they did not give me the total amount, they said it would be xx plus VAT. How am I supposed to work out the VAT over the phone? Very misleading and pressurising. They have taken so much money for doing absolutely nothing.

I entered into an agreement with ems Internet the slick salesman, wouldn't leave until I agreed some kind of deal. It turns out you need to buy a website via ems for the google search to work efficiently.

I totally agree with previous comments I was offered a web site for £95.00 plus vat special offer, then when I agreed to that had sales person on the phone offering promotion package £395.00 plus vat. The web site was produced and I was quite happy with it. However, when I asked about the promotion package I was told it would take 4 to 6 weeks and I had to supply a list of key words and phrases. I produced a list of 17 and was told I only got 3 but they would allow 5. I said no one told me that when I purchased the package and they told me to get what I wanted I would need to give them another £500.00 plus vat for a gold site making my total outlay £1, 200.00 including vat. but I would only have to pay £500.00 a year plus vat instead of £1200.00 I told them that I was not prepared to spend any more as I could see this escalating and I wanted what I had paid for. they said they would call me back in 15 mins, luckily I did not hold my breath. DO NOT BE TEMPTED TO DEAL WITH THIS LOT UNLESS YOU HAVE AN ENDLESS SUPPLY OF CASH and even then you probably won't get what you want. They are very slick

EMS-INTERNET AVOID...AVOID..AVOID

I’ve spoken to a number of people at this firm...all promising different things...All delivering nothing.

The 1st call came on 5th March....A salesman called DAVID TASKER....He talked at length about having a .mobi website suggesting it would help my driving school be found by a younger market...I agreed...It cost me £99 plus VAT = £118.80 plus £4.99+vat a month.

Another call came on 8th March...another salesperson (female...cant recall her name)...said she’d been onto my current site and wasn’t mobile friendly...and advised me to have a new site built to compliment my new .mobi site...I thought it sounded good so agreed...paid another £149 plus VAT = £178.80 plus another £4.99+ vat per month (£9.99+ vat month total)

Another call on 12th March...yet another salesman...cant recall his name....was advised to both sites upgraded to include something they termed Search local...this was full SEO work, backlinks, google, bing, yahoo etc etc for a 12 month period....cost £395 plus VAT = £474

Contacted again on 9th April by another salesman ADAM DAVIS....He went on an on about the fact that the previous website I’d agree to have built was really basic...and recommended I upgrade yet again to what he described as the premium package...a 10 page fully bespoke website etc etc etc...This would incur a “one-off” cost of £495 plus VAT = £594.....He went on at length to tell me that by switching to this new package I could actually save money over a 12 month time frame...This was his explanation to me.......I‘ve still got the paper I wrote on as he was talking to me.

£395 + vat for the search local package = £395 + vat
£9.99 + vat /month hosting for both sites = £119.88 + vat
Total over a 12 month period = £514.88 + vat

He explained that by upgrading to what he described as the PREMIUM PACKAGE would actually cost me £24.99 + vat per month...and the fee would include hosting for both sites + the search local package

On paper it was obviously a better option...and although I was reluctant to spend yet another £495 plus vat, I agreed after Adam said he’d arrange for some QR codes and a twitter business page to be part of the deal..

He said he needed a decision straight away (this was a Friday afternoon)...and if I agreed, he would “crack on” immediately...he seemed keen to secure my business......(quite possibly on some kind of a bonus to be rewarded I assume)

I’ve sent you several emails & made several phone calls (hopefully all recorded) most of which are complaints of some sort or another.

I will quote an email sent to me on 15th April, following a conversation the previous day with Victoria Ng.....Here’s a copy of that email.

Thank you for your time today, as discussed please find below a full breakdown into your current services;

Search Local - £395 plus vat - Renewable on an annual basis.
10 Page Premium Website including 2 Page Mobile Website and domain names: drivinglessonsinloughborough.mobi and drivingschoolinloughborough.co.uk - Monthly Fee of £24.99 plus vat per month.
QR Code Tracking (10 Codes) and Twitter Page - One off fee included within the price paid for upgrade to 10 Page Premium Website.
If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me direct.

Victoria Ng,
Customer Service

You’ll see she quotes £395 + vat for search local and £24.99 + vat /month for the premium package......it completely contradicts everything Adam Davis told me during his sales pitch

I’ve also noticed you’ve taken £9.99 + vat from my debit card on 9th April...When I rang to enquire about this, your customer service advisor told me it was the monthly fee for hosting the two sites.......I was astonished by this....They haven't been built yet, nor are they live sites....and I’d already upgraded to the premium package anyway.......I was gobsmacked to say the least.

Added to the fact that no progress had been made on the actual building of my sites, despite having paid out over £1300 in total.

This was the final straw...I’d come to the conclusion “ENOUGH IS ENOUGH” so I decided that was it....Stop everything with immediate effect.

I did talk to Victoria Ng, and ask her about getting my payments back....She said I’d entered into a verbal contract, and told me to read the contract I’d been sent on my 1st call.....I’ve no recollection of receiving any such contract, nor signing anything...its all verbal

Just prior to coming to this decision, I’d been doing some research into your firm.....And came across this very interesting site.

http://www.complaintsboard.com/complaints/ems-internet-warrington-england-cheshire-c486854.html

Reading through the feedbacks given by plenty of other unhappy, dis-satisfied customers, they all sound like they’ve had exactly the same experience that I have.

Hindsight is a wonderful thing....If only I’d done some research prior to parting with what for me is a huge amount of outlay....for totally “nothing” in return.

When I look back...how stupid am I.....and what have had so far.......nothing.

There’s been several email from me to you. and god knows how many calls.....but still nothing.

I am intending taking this matter further...I have advised my bank of this intention, and they are arranging to send me relevant forms as I attempt to recover my outlay

I’m truly hoping any further action from me becomes un-necessary, and you will simply re-imburse me everything I’ve paid to you to this point.

I will be sending you this email in a recorded delivery letter in addition to writing to your most senior company director

Thankyou

Yep, the bastards got me too. For a few grand. Wish I had read these reviews sooner!

There are CONSTANT renewals, and I mean for everything. Search engine indexing, which is absolutely nothing. Google maps, which is free so why on earth would you renew it???? Domain renewals, at absolutely scandalous prices.

Plus everything is extra, which is not explained before they design you a cheap site. Control panel with very, very limited access to the site they wanted £300+VAT. Email addresses are free, but hold about 15 emails so then you need to 'upgrade' to Gmail accounts for £100 each.

I am far web wiser than when I got on board with EMS Internet and now realise that what you are getting either doesn't exist or is just a pile of shit.

I am going through the painstaking process of trying to get my domain back from them at the moment, I am pretty sure that they are going to try and charge me for something or other at any moment.

If you value your business and your sanity then stay away from this absolutely diabolical outfit.

EMS INTERNET

AVOID THIS RIP OFF COMPANY, THEY LIE AND USE ANY MEANS TO CON YOU OUT OF MORE MONEY ONCE THEY HAVE SIGNED YOU UP. THEY WILL GET YOUR SITE ON THE FIRST PAGE OF GOOGLE FOR A FEW WEEKS, THEN IT WILL BEGIN TO FALL AWAY, THEN THEY WILL CONSTANTLY PHONE DEMANDING THAT YOU PAY A FURTHER £500 + VAT TO GET YOU BACK.

EMS INTERNET - Avoid at all costs

I can only agree with other complainants regarding EMS-Internet of Warrington. In my opinion they are a company that I would avoid at all costs.

Like others, I was approached over two years ago with the offer of a website for the annual fee of £99 + VAT (using domain names that I already owned) No contact was made regarding progress of the website and no web site ever appeared.

It's difficult to recall the exact chronology but I then got another call telling me I needed to pay another £295 + VAT to build in the web links and key phrases whilst the web page was under construction and that if I didn't it would cost me a great deal more if the had to take the site apart.

Phoned some time later to say renewal was due...For what? No site but they needed to renew or I would lose money and work paid for to date.

Next it was recommended I had a mobile platform built as the stats they had about searches people were making came from phones and tablet...another few hundred quid. This week another request for £295 + Vat to build links into the mobile platform. I said no and got the waffle that if I left it until the mobile thingy was built it would cost me more. I said no!!

The only sight of work done was a couple of months back when they approached me for more money. I got an email with about two paragraphs of copy which could have been done as a high school project, very poor, didn't address or even cover the work our company does.

The sales staff are quite aggressive, don't listen and simply over-talk you. It seems clear to me that this approach is part of company training and the only skill they have is extorting as much money from customers as they can.

I had 5 domain names registered in my name which I left with them, none of them are now registered in my name. Some have now been registered to others, one I notice to EMS Internet.

I can only advise from personal experience to AVOID this company or at the very least do some very comprehensive research before you part with a penny.

I would urge the others who have suffered financial loss at the hands of EMS Internet to spread the word and keep sharing that information of your experience.

Ironically it may be the Internet itself that may stop this firm from offering such a shoddy, useless or non-existent service

EMS MEANS Exorbitant Media Shyters

EMS really stands for Exobitant Media Shysters. I suffered their pressure selling but only for 1year. I refused to pay my renewal fee which was 5 times more than what I was initially told from its outset. Now I want to change domain hosts they are being ultra uncooperative. In transferring my domain name after promising they would. They've actually said they have but they haven't. Meanwhile my business is suffering. STAY AWAY
THEY SHOULD BE STRUCK OFF

Internet Thieves

How can this Company be allowed to continue to operate, they are the epitome of the types that ruin the confidence and use of the inetrnet in all its facets.

My experience is one of being robbed and being sold a lie, very slick operators who claim to record all converstations and say this is making a contract and you cannot back out or get your money back from them. This Company are not an honourable business nor have any interest in Customer Duty of care, they have lied to and cheated decent trusting people out their and my money and goodwill. Never will i again deal with this type of business, they have destroyed for many people the confidence in the internet. Their standards of practice are in the order of needing to be closed down and barred from the internet as a business media.

Do not, under any circumstances do any financial transactions with this company. BE Warned.

Another victim of EMS

This is a copy of my letter to EMS

Dear Jamie Wilson 17th August 2015

This is a letter of complaint. Your company EMS Internet, in its marketing of its website services, is a trap for the unwary.
I fell for the attractive offer of a website for £450. This was the beginning of a nightmare. It seemed almost every week after that I was persuaded to spend more and more money on ‘link building’ and ‘search boosters’. These things I was told were absolutely necessary for a website to be found by people browsing the internet. I felt as if I had bought a car but when I came to collect it was told I would need to buy an engine, and then when I went to try and collect again was told I would have to pay for wheels etc., etc.,

By now I have spent in excess of £5000 on this website to no significant effect on my income from new customers.

Why was it not made clear at the outset that this website would cost me more than £5000? My business has a turnover of about £20,000 per annum, turnover not profit. I cannot justify this kind of expenditure as I have told your account managers time and time again. But I am constantly being persuaded to spend, spend, spend.

The final straw was discovering that I have spent £354 on the 4th Aug and £474 on the 10th. Completely confused by all the demands from your company, I didn’t realise that I would have two such large sums to pay in one month. I can’t afford this, as I have fruitlessly told your account managers many, many times.

I will warn any of my friends and acquaintances considering buying a website to avoid EMS as its marketing practices are wicked, leaving their customers dreading another phone call demanding more money.

Yours

David Cuthbert

Rip off avoid at all costs

I can't believe this so called Company is still in business, I got ripped off six years ago, I lost over a thousand pounds, just kept getting fobbed off, all they wanted was more money, saying if I wanted a good website I should pay extra, but eventually I woke up and stopped giving them any more, I never did get my website or any money back, surely trading standards should do something about them, if I was robbed on the street they would of been arrested, how is it any different ?
