overpriced items
This company sells low quality items overpriced. I bought a 13.5 H.P. DR Chipper and after 5 hours it was damaged. I wasted $100 because they don't do any refunds. If you still want to buy from them - think twice.

Painfully slow parts shipping
I have been doing business with CHP for over 20 years. The products I always bought were the trimmer/mowers which always worked well for the rough ground I had around our homes in the country. Four years ago we moved to a 5 Acre parcel and, getting on in age, I decided to buy one of their Field and Brush mowers, a tow-behind model. It worked well for 4 years but finally lost its electric clutch, right in the middle of the grass-growing season. The 5 Acres is seeded in "dry pasture" mix so the "grass" can get pretty tough after it gets knee-high or higher...too tough for the trimmer-mower!
We are in the middle of grass-growing season when the clutch went out. I do all my own maintenance, so I ordered a replacement clutch because we are coming up on fire season when mowing gets restricted by the Fire Department, so I was in a hurry to get the Tow-Behind mower functioning again. I ordered the clutch on May 15, but was given a UPS arrival date of May 26, 11 DAYS AFTER I ORDERED A CRITICAL PART I REALLY NEED AND GETTING VERY CLOSE TO THE START OF FIRE SEASON.
Eleven days for a nearly 10 lb. critical part is not exactly what I would call service by a "Nationwide" company. The part is somewhere between Illinois and Oregon and I still have 6 days to go before it gets here. They are in a small town in Vermont and I am in Oregon!
CHP makes pretty good equipment and I have got good service out of each mower I bought, but 11 days to get a critical part for a nearly $3000 mower is not the action of a truly "Nationwide" company! If you order anything from them, be prepared to wait a considerable time before you get what you order. Right now I have grass waist-high and a dry year will likely bring "fire season" early...and without that clutch I am screwed! When I originally called their local dealer, they gave me a date in Mid-June before they could get to the project! Speedy service is not CHP's long suit! Be prepared to wait when dealing with them. I think they have bitten off a little more business than they can handle!
