Not paying consigners

I am also owed money, £709, by Cameo Auctioneers, Reading for items sold from June, August, October 2011, they sold 14 lots of various items inc gold, ceramaics, records, memorabilia. I have phoned, written and e-mailed numerous times with only one reply saying that my account has been passed for payment yet I have received nothing. They have now stopped answering the phone yet they are still trading and advertising auction dates.

Not paying consigners

Me too. I am owed over £6, 000 from sales of Antiques and Collectables since April 2011. I have given up with phoning and emailing as they keep saying that the money has been passed for payment. All of them at Cameo Auctions seem to be involved. The woman in the Office told me that on-one else had complained that they hadn't been paid. Glenn in accounts told me a cheque was in the post. I found the first warning signs on autographnews. Will post again if legal action successful. Don't hold your breath...

My elderly mother (a widow) has been owed £980 since October last year...I have given up phoning and emailing them. We were told the same...the cheque was in the post.

Not paying consigners

We sold three lots with Cameo and were waiting for a valuation of my Husband's childhood stamp collection - foound out they sold the stamps and then other lots but are still waiting for our money. we contacted Trading Standards and are now going through the small claims process. The man who owns cameo is Mr King and he and his staff are a bunch of crooks - they have ignored the the small claims complaint and seem to think they are above the law. If anyone has any legal knowledge out there and has any ideas about what to do next then all suggestions will be gratefully received MJB

Not paying consigners

My husband is also owed money by cameo auctioneers. Every time we phone we. Are told the cheque is in the post. We have been to trading standards. These people have been on television on one of the auction programmed. They were also on television on march26th because one lady had been to this programme to get her money. These people need to be made to pay what they owe people.

Not paying consigners

Why are these people being allowed to steal from people. The BBC featured them dickinsons real deal. Surely there is some way thet can be made to pay up.

Not paying consigners

I saw them on The Sherriffs are Coming on BBC the other day...again for not paying their consigners. One woman was owed over £4000 and they had kept hold of family heirlooms that they hadnt sold. This is tantamount to theft. I cannot see how they can get away with it.

Not paying consigners

At last! This non payment to Vendors is nothing new! It has been going on over a long period of many years. The owner, Mr Jon King, works on the principle that after a while, those who are owed money will eventually give up and stop asking. An Auctioneer is obliged by the Legal Principle, 'Duty of Care', or the Law of Torte, to pay the Vendors and look after all goods and chattles on their behalf whilst in his care. He fails in both these requirements miserably. I urge you all to act as quickly as possible by any means, taking legal action, contacting Watchdog, local press, national press, the Antique and Trades Gazette...do anything to stop these appalling people carrying on their unsavory business. I am amazed that ITV and David Dickinson have any association with this Company. Well done to the BBC for highlighting this issue.

Not paying consigners

Cameo also owe us money. I have contacted the national fraud board, they take all details and pass these on to police. The more people that ring the board the more chance there is to stop these people. What they are doing amounts to theft. The phone number is 0300. 123 2040. If you have a complaint about cameo please ring and help to get these people stopped.

Not paying consigners

I am also owed money, £311, by Cameo Auctioneers, Reading for an item sold in November 2011, when they sold a Jimmie Hendrix Album. I have phoned, written and e-mailed numerous times with only one reply saying that my account has been passed for payment or the cheque is in the post, yet I have received nothing. The last time I phoned they hung up as soon as I gave my name and would not answer the phone when I rang back several times.I have now issued a claim through the County Court. Reading the other comments on this site regarding this company I cannot believe that they are still allowed to trade and only wish I had researched them on line prior to sending my item for sale !

Illegal use of my Card

Large sum of money was taken from my bank by Cameo.
I had not bought, bid, or even registered to bid !!! (They had my details from an auction where I had registered to bid some months ago but never bought). They are not replying to email messages or phone messages left for them.
They have used my card illegally and this is being treated as fraud by the authorities but being on incapacity benefit and not dealing with stress well, I could have done without this shock when I looked at my bank statement. I cannot understand why they are still trading. I spoke to somebody who agreed it was an error and assured me on 3 occasions it had been paid.It has never been received by my bank.I wonder how they are trading without answering the phone or are our phone numbers blocked ie the people they know have a case against them. How can they be operating an auction without answering the phone.

Cameo Auctioneers

My husband recently died and I returned to UK to dispose of our remaining possessions that had been left in storage. These were taken to Cameo in December 2011, and were supposed to be auctioned in January 2012. I returned to Australia and left my daughter to deal with Cameo. Apart from some of the items going missing, we have had no payment for any that we know were sold. My daughter has repeatedly tried to phone, email, and even attend there auction rooms at Migden, but they are very professional thieves and have managed not to pay us.. I am horrified that they have been allowed to trade in this manner for so long by declaring to be bankrupt and restarting with a slightly different name. I cannot believe they are not committing criminal offences with some of their practices, and should be charged accordingly.

Non Payment and missing goods

I got badly ripped off by Cameo just over a year ago. I am horrified that trading standards did nothing, there was already a case file opened about Jon King back then. The man is so obviously dishonest. First he claimed I had not left my goods with him, then he tried to claim he had already paid me, then he claimed some were unsold and would be going in to the next auction. I got some of the money owed but nothing like what I should have got. He would put the phone down if I called him and adopted an arrogant attitude that is typical of a professional con man. It was only when I promised to pay him a visit that he eventually paid me part of what he owed me. To think that he could be allowed to register another business is nothing short of appalling. Trading standards themselves need to be investigated on this one.

cameo auctions

where do we go with this??
Trading standards ask for all the info and give no advice.
The police now seem to be involved, will they let me enter Cameo auctions and find unsold items to return??
We let Cameo auctions sell goods that they never intended to give us the money for..and no-one seems to be bothered.

Shame on you all, as usual its the little person who loses out.
